I'm not sure, but I swear it's starting to souhnd like everybody who owns a ps3 has to upgrade their hdd because they really need a lot of room. In fact, starting to sort of feel like I'm the only person in the world who owns a ps3 yet never bothered to upgrade my ps3 hdd. My reason is that I just feel that all I need to do is be patient if I wanna download something again like some of a game data installs since some of them take a lot of space, not to mention I own and bought some ps3 games. Besides, the only thing I use my ps3 is mostly just for games and some ps1 classic games (maybe even ps2 games as well), and that's it.

I have a 120 GB HDD in my slim and I'm content with that, I have roughly 75 gigs free.

Well, when you think about it, there's really no reason NOT to upgrade since there really are no cons but all pros:

+It's cheap
+It's super easy
+It's quick

You're not required to upgrade, but usually people that like to download a lot of games want that buffer of space and the convenience of not having to worry about what to delete and keep. And considering how easy Sony made it for consumers to do and not restricting their HDs to a proprietary format, there really is no downside to doing it.

You don't have to, it's just nice to be able to download anything and everything and never even have to think about how much space it's taking up.

I pretty much had to due to my expanding library, especially downloadable games that take up a ton of space. I went from 80GB to 250GB sometime earlier this year or later last year. I'm already at less than 100GB left from the 250GB HDD, but I should be able to manage just fine. If you can continue to manage your HDD space, then you don't really need to upgrade, but it's relatively easy if you ever need to, and you don't need a fancy expensive HDD so it's not too costly.

It fills up a lot quicker than you'd think. It always sucks to have to search for things to delete when your HDD is full and you need more space...

I upgraded my original 60gig with a 160gig HDD, but after it got the YLoD, I got a 250gig slim. I have no need for a bigger HDD, so I haven't upgraded my slim.

Nope I have never upgraded my Playstation 3 HDD. I have always left the stock HDD in the system. I currently have a PS3 60GB and a PS3 slimline 320GB

But if selling a PS3 system counts. I used to have the PS3 40GB phat, which I sold for the 60giger, and When the Slim first came out I had the launch 120GB Slim. Which I sold when I "upgraded" to the 320Giger slim.

I gave the 120Giger to the epic spouse because the Phat 80Giger MGS Playstation 3 died.

I do dislike the mandatory Data install that PS3 requires. Other than that I have not actually upgraded any of my PS3's HDD's.

I suppose it depends on what system you have. If you have one of the 320GB PS3s, then no don't bother. But I have a 60 GB that I've had since launch and I could never imagine having to manage data if I didn't upgrade to a 250GB hard drive way back.

I still have an 80Gb, and I don't see the point in getting a new one. If I somehow manage to fill it up, I'll just delete some crap. It's not that annoying, and it's not as if I'm play all of my games all of the time. I also tend to not give a crap about my saves because when I replay a game, I ALWAYS start over from the beginning.

As long as you have a 120 gb or more harddrive you should be fine to play ps3 games on.
