I just think that sony intentions where the best when trying to keep psn free...but seriously I'll rather pay a anual for more content in the store and a better support for games.

Does anyone agree with me?

I don't agree with you, I'm fine the way it is. If I paid for online, whenever I'm not playing online, my money would be losing its worth and that's something that bothers me and is the reason why I don't play MMOs

I dissagree i already pay my isp and pay for game downloads i dont think an anual fee would be very attractive. Plus ps store is just getting started, might be a slow start but i predict in the coming months lots more!

Free online is good.

It is probably biggest reason why I didn't get Xbox 360

Ok wouldnt it piss you off if you have to pay a fee to pay even more for content? Sony IS making money off the Playstation via the games. Demos are a gratis bonus, as well as the trailers. Then, when Home comes...money will start pumping in...because there are tons of people who would pay real money for in-game stuff (Look at Habbo Hotel).

Xbox Live makes money from the player subscriptions. Does Sony HOME make money from the advertisements within it, if there are any? I mean, it takes a lot of money to maintain a large network, especially with HD games running on it. I heard that in PS HOME, you can see small advertisements, but not sure if that is true.

Personally, I would prefer having advertisements in HOME rather than paying subscription money from my own pocket.

As far as content and what not goes, Xbox Live did not launch with the number of demos, arcade games, movie trailers, etc. that you see today. It started out small and gradually built up over time, and not always quickly and consistently. I'm assuming the exact same thing is going to happen with PSN...only you're not forced to pay anything for online gaming (the most important part).

[QUOTE="sleepy88123"]lol xbox fan boys are retards lol so dose that make wii fan boys wiitardsmightyboosh13
Being I like gaming and don't support 1 system. I find that the PS3 die-hards at the moment are the most annoying idiots I've ever met among Gaming Forums. Sorry to the fair few Sony fans who can only afford 1 console and are sticking with their tried and trusted, I understand. But some of these Sony die-hards act like total idiots. I thought The Halo2 kiddy fanboys were annoying but the PS3 die-hards are the "cream at the top" idiots of the Gaming World at the moment. Sorry but calling somebody a fan of a system which (ATM) is the better system a r£tard is prettty sad and well r£tardish thing to say. Why cant they bring a system out called "FanboyboxStation" where all the annoying idiot die-hard fanboys and m0rons can go. They dont need good games just a place to b1tch everybody else... Rant over... On topic, yeah paying is a problem and if XBLive cost much more I'd say nooo!! But they do offer a grand service but if a rival offers a equal for free I'd see that as a BIG problem for MS. So PS Home looks very interesting.

I see you calling people idiots with no reasoning other than that xBox is better in your opinion though you present your opinion as fact. :? Die hard fans of anything are annoying and you only dislike PS fans more because they go against your own bias.

Mr. Harrison stated on a recent interview that Sony hasn't promised anyone that PSN will be free forever. So don't get pissed if later on you (we) will have to pay a small fee. :)

Phil Harrison said the cost for maintaining the network will be paid up by various advertisements in HOME and by premium downloads which users pay for. I would prefer having advertisements in HOME rather than paying money from m own pocket.

all I remember him saying is that games with higher server infrastructure cost (i.e. MMOs) will have fees as well as premium content that you'll pay for. Never heard anything about PSN having a subscription fee at any point

I'm not saying he said there will be a subscription fee. He said they never promised it would be free forever?
I'm saying that don't be surprised if they would be charging us a small fee.

Question: Now as the server grows do you anticipate to be able to keep it free forever
Mr. Harrison answer: We made no statements about forever, but we hope to...

I just think that sony intentions where the best when trying to keep psn free...but seriously I'll rather pay a anual for more content in the store and a better support for games.

Does anyone agree with me?

arturo_ko
No, I do not agree. So far I have not found anything that I dislike about the setup that would prompt me to offer a payment. The games that I have played online thus far have been supported very well, especially Resistance. In fact I would have to say that more has been done for Resistance in the terms of tweaks, changes, and balances than any console game I have played online before. The devs have been absolutely great with the game. As for the store, I am not that worried. Much like360 and Live it is going to take a little time before we see a nice amount of content available. The system has only been out for less than 4 months.

I think Sony's approach to the online service is great. Its free for pete's sake, so that works for me. Also with built in Wi-Fi(on the 60gb of course), u dont have to worry about wires.

The online service for PS3 is just like the PC. It is free and always will be. Don't ask PS3 users, go ask millions of PC gamers if they would want to pay to play their games online.
