I don't know if this is true, but from what I see audio technology is way ahead of video. There's always graphical differences between games, but in this gen pretty much all the high end games have amazing audio quality. A lot of games have beautiful orchestrated pieces as well as crispy sound effects. And a lot of work is put into seperating all of that into the correct speakers at any given point. Audio is really underrated, maybe because its too subtle and not as immediately appealing as the high end graphics, but if you just got a surround sound system and boot up MGS4/Killzone 2/Dead Space, the difference you will notice will right away make you acknowledge that the money was worth it.
QFT... this gen I honestly think that sound is the best thing.. playing a PS2 game vs a PS3 game audio wise the difference is just staggering.. awesome graphics are great for drawing you in short term, but a powerful orchestral soundtrack or an overwhelming atmospheric number keeps me coming back... Killzone 2 is probably the single best game audio wise this gen.. MGS4 a close second..I don't know if this is true, but from what I see audio technology is way ahead of video. just wondering to c if it worth gettin it 4 ps3 brakey101Definitely... if it matter to you... some people just doesn't hear the difference so they don't care if the audio is crappy... its the same as watching a very good movie on a very nice screen... but the audio is horrible... it surely ruins the experience...
In my honest opinion.. Sound is 60% of the experience... yes.. i even consider audio ancillary to video.. I need a decent sound system to enjoy a game.. I go over to friends houses and they have like 2 and 4 thousand dollar TV's and it all just seems wasted without at the very, very least a nice subwoofer... Killzone 2, MGS4, and Dead Space are aural masterpieces...americahellyeahAbsolutely agreed!
I am not that big on it.I mean it is nice to have a cool theater setup so when you hear the sound it is all around you,but as far as blasting the tv....No I don't do that and I really don't see a point.K1LLR3175when the volume is too much... its already considered as noise...
wow, I didn't knew the audio part is that great. I'm thinking of getting a surround system too, but I got 2 questions about it. Is every/most Games making use of more than 2 boxes? And is there a big difference with the quality of the sound with increasing price or am I fine with sone set that costs 400 CHF (which is about $300)?ArchoNils2I don't think it would change dramatically for games but foor blu-ray movies I'm not sure since the movies are set for a 7.1. I have an old SONY sorround sound system (which doesn't support 7.1) that works great with my PS3 movies/games. It is a very satisfying experience. Especially playing Dead Space at night with sorround on is 1 thing I strongly recommend.

okok but me tv only has one hdmi input and ps3 is in it how could i put in the sorround by the red blue and green mayb?????? brakey101
Usually surround sound systems with HDMI have an input and output. So you would run an HDMI cable from the PS3 to the surround sound and from the surround to the tv. Or you canrun an optical cable from the PS3 to the surround and keep the HDMI from the PS3 plugged into the tv.
Surround sound definitely adds to the experience.
Does all surround have capatibal slots or whatever they are because some surround wid HDMIinput/output are expensive im looking in the 250-350 mark theres one thats called Samsung 5.1 Channel Home Theatre with Bluetooth Connectivity it has HDMI but i dnt think it has HDMIinput/output and it goes to 1080p how would i connect this???
okok but me tv only has one hdmi input and ps3 is in it how could i put in the sorround by the red blue and green mayb?????? brakey101I use a HDMI splitter/adapter that allows me to plug up to 3 HDMI sources to my HDTV. For sound i prefer high end optical from my sources to my SurroundSound system. If you use the blue, red, green you will need to use the digital coaxial for the sound to be "true" surround. Using anything other then HDMI,Optic,Digital Coax is not going to transfer "true" surround 5.1 or better...best you will achieve is emulation if your audio has it. Surround sound and HDMI TV are more then crucial to me for getting the most immersive experience out of my PS3...why not use it's full capabilities???
I have a Cheap RCA system hooked up to mine - I can't get enough of the deeper and clearer sound ... I got the RCA systemt hat's $100 at Wal Mart ... and it sounds awesome for my little room
just wondering to c if it worth gettin it 4 ps3 brakey101
absolutely worth getting. before this gen of gaming i didn't have a surround sound system, but luckily when i purchased my tv it came w/ a very nice surround sound theatre. now i know what all the fuss is about. to be able to hear an enemy approach you while knowing what side they are coming is great. i don't think i'll ever go back. in fact i leave the surround sound on for movies and television. the best part is it isn't overly expensive to get a descent system. you could probably get one for around $300 to $400 that has 5.1 w/ a sub.

I say HECK YES. It's funny because I just got my surround sound system in the mail today. I have a 52' tv and i have been using the tv speakers alone for about 2 months. I hooked up my surround sound today and it's like a totally different experience. I say yes... Surround sound is great if you can get it... get it.
kool would 5.1 surround b gwd enough?? it is all i can afford at da momentbrakey101it would be just fine... hell i use a 20 dollar sound system from walmart (surprisingly good quality though, actually produces clearer sound and much more powerful base than my parents 300 dollar home theater system)
just wondering to c if it worth gettin it 4 ps3 brakey101Surround sound makes anything that much better.
