Does the controller charge when the PS3 is in stand by?

no it doesnt

yes you can connect it to your PC or anything like that

and you can tell it is charging cuz the lights on top will be flashing, when it is done charging they will be solid

no. your ps3 has to be on. You know its charging when the indicator lights are flashing. You can charge it from the usb port on your computer.

um no it does not charge in standby, the lights on the controller all four blink when charging, and yes on any usb port

No it doesn't charge when the system is in standby. It will recharge off any USB port you have. I usually recharge mine off a USB port on my TV or off my laptop when I need to.

That's kind of retarded on sony's part to not make it charge on stand by, but at least it works with any usb port.  Anyway thnx.

yeah i know i didnt feel like explaining the whole controller port light thing seeing as how he didnt even know how to charge the controller and i knew that it would have turned into an even bigger explanation
