I get nervous each time I play uncharted because the fan goes on to its max level within 5 minutes. I've gotten the YLOD a few months ago, and I take good care of my ps3, but it still frightens me. Even though the fan goes on a lower setting a few minutes later, I'm still worried about it. Does this happen to anybody else? Any advice? I keep my ps3 in a well ventilated area and I dust every month or so.

Doesn't the fan always kick in with a game that requires a lot of processing power? Forgive me if I used the term wrong.

Of course the fan turns on, but I've NEVER heard it turn this loud before.

Uh... that's normal. Both my PS3s do that. I can't even hear it when not playing a game, and when I'm playing one, the fan gets louder. It's normal.

I have a pretty cool temperature in my gaming room, but once in a great GREAT while I hear the fan kick up a few notches.....but seriously I've only heard it like 3 times in almost 2 years.

LOL, it's not that bad, just ignore the sound, make sure you clean the system of dust regularly. It could be worse, stand next to 360 while it's playing anything.

Mine does the same thing, more so on U2 than on any other game. Mine is decently ventilated but when I cool off the room a bit by turning the ceiling fan on high, it drops down to a lower speed and is fine the rest of the time playing.

When people started talking about the fans going super loud while playing Uncharted 2 I had no idea what they were talking about, a day or two ago my PS3 (I've had since 2007) did it for the first time.

Funny, so many confirming this and yet I never experienced it... fan remains the same as with any other game. Killzone 2 though, I noticed many times when the fans kicked into high gear.

Hmmm, I don't know. My PS3 doesn't do that. I mean, after a little while during any game, the fans will step up one gear in fan speed but that's about it.
