Yes. Some TVs do this with HDMI. My friends Samsung TV automatically turns off his Samsung Blu-Ray player when the TV is turned off. The person probably has a new Sony Bravia HDTV hooked up with his slim PS3 by HDMI. Usually it only works with audio/visual devices manufactured by the same company.

No. You need a Sony Bravia HDTV. It's known as Bravia Link.

The Bravia Link feature only works on the PS3 Slim. But, I would think Sony could make this possible on the older PS3 models with a firmware update... IDK.

Newer Sony Bravias will turn off the PS3 only and no other TVs.

Yes its not a problem, its a feature. You can have it so that the HDTV turns on when the PS3 turns on, but Im not sure about the other way around. You need to have a CEC compatible HDMI port. If you dont like it, I think you can turn it off in the HDTV settings or just plug the HDMI in a non-CEC port.

Its not just the Sony Bravias. My Samsung 6 series can do it too. Also, I think it only works with a Slim PS3. Maybe the Fat got this feature through a firmware update. IDK.

Am I the only one that thinks that sounds... i don't know... risky? I'm sure it's fine and all, as it's a feature that I'm sure has been tested thoroughly, but it just doesn't sound good to me.
