Does the Platinum trophy contradict itself?

So the intire purpose of the Platinum trophies is collecting all of the trophies right? Well how can you collect all of the trophies without collecting the platinum itself? So really you didnt collect all of the trophies until you've gotten the platinum?

I think I am just going crazy.

Well usually it only counts the main games trophies, not additional content.

Yeah, for example, I got the platinum trophy on Resident Evil 5 without the DLC. Then, when I purchased it, my percentage level went from 100% back down to 85%, but my platinum was still there. So the add-on trophies are just extra, they don't dock you for it if you decide to get the add-on content later. I'd be mad if they took a platinum away from me, lol.

This doesn't even make sense. Of course you have to collect all of the trophies which means you get the platinum. Wow...I don't know if I can come back to the PS3 thread again.

I kind of lost some Trophies, i had 7% trophies on Prince of Persia, when i rebooted my PS3 where nothing was on it. I played the game again, with net connection, and seemed to get the words (Trophy added for getting so & so). I was confused because i had that trophy 4 days before i rebooted the PS3. Sounds odd doesnt it. The other thing is that for my COD W@W game.I caught a few trophies when the game first came out, i saved the guy named Ryan, earned that trophy, but now i noticed 9 days ago, that the date to which i earned some trophies last year are gone. The picture of the trophy remains, just not the date?. I cant reclaim the Trophy, so im guessing it means i still have it, just unable to get the date back. =[

Okay, listen or read, whatever. You need to collet all main GOLD, BRONZE and SILVER trophies, to get Platium one so ti doesn't contradict itself.

some games do say you get it for collecting all other trophies though.
