We just got a PS2/PS3 memory card adapter for our 40gb PS3 but aren't sure if it'll work and allow us to play PS2 games on our PS3. Does anyone know if the memory card adapter allows 40gb PS3s' to play PS2 games?

Im pretty sure the PS3's that play PS2 games are the 60 and 80 gig. I dunno if you can play PS2 games on a 40 gig. I dont think its backwards compatible

No. Backwards compatibility has to do with either the emotion engine or software emulation. The 40gb model doesn't have either of these. Memory card adapter won't do you any good man.

Right, a 40GB won't play PS2 games, period.

The 40 gig will not play PS2 games regardless of what you try. The only PS3's that play PS2 games are the 20, 60, and 80 gig PS3's.
