If you go into the details section of the page, you will see that it is 12.5mm in height, while the hdd height can only be 9.5mm on the PS3 (as with most laptops, but I find laptops to be a tad more customizable in the HDD department as they are just on the bottom of the laptop). So to answer your question, no, you cannot use that HDD for your PS3. I have looked myself quite a few times. My tip to you would be get a 500gb HDD (or maybe even 750gb) for all your games and stuff, and get a 1tb HDD for music, video, and pictures (or whatever else you would want your PS3 to use). Just remember that the external has to be formatted to fat32.
Yes. But...what on earth are you going to put on it? If it's media, seems like it would be much more efficient (and cheaper) to stream it to the PS3 from elsewhere. If it's games...you probably wouldn't fill the whole thing even if you owned the entire PS3 library.DJ_Laeit's none of your business.

I thought I read that same thing somewhere.Last I've checked, PS3 had a 500gig read limit for internal hard drives.

so you start by telling DJ its none of your buissness and then tell the next guy its just for games??! 1) research. That hd is no good for ps3 2) You dont need 1tb just for games. Dogwaxthat isn't for you to decide.
I thought I read that same thing somewhere.That is good news. Do you feel that a 320gb hdd would be enough? See i once had the PS3 40 GB and i was sick of installing and uninstalling just to play new games. Also the Playstation video store is really something I might use. Even themes i had to uninstall. Really I know that even 1 TB is almost just enough but if I can't upgrade from 320 to 1TB it may no be worth it just to go from 320 to 500gb. I woul rather keep the 320 with the PS3 I am buying in August.[QUOTE="Denji"]

When I get my PS3 (hopefully arrives tomorrow), I'll let you know, I have a 1TB drive sitting next to me. In the review, they said they had no problems with using that HD with the PS3. As for limitation, PS3 uses FAT32... FAT32 has 8TB MAX limit... so I'm pretty sure the 1TB will work.trastamad03GREAT!! Let me know in this thread. Appreciate it.
It has to be the EXACT same size physically as the current hard drive. Some new 2.5" laptop hard drives are thicker, so be careful. Amazon and Play usually state whether it is PS3 compatible these days.
I chose a Seagate as these are what the fat PS3s came with, and the Slims come with Toshiba hard drives. If Sony chose these they should be good!
Also, I wouldnt' go for 7200 over 5400, as PS3s have overheating problems anyway and it makes little, if any, difference to loading times.
[QUOTE="mike4realz"]that hdd won't fit in the ps3nickz_fpk
It will, it's 2.5 inches.
No, it's too tall.
PS3 only accepts drives that are:
I have a 500GB WD Caviar Blue, it cost me £40. Unless you store HD video 500GB is more than enough for a PS3.

the PS3 can archive ur AVCHD handycam footage onto its hard drive. at 6-8GB per hour, a larger drive is recommended
so you start by telling DJ its none of your buissness and then tell the next guy its just for games??!(...)DogwaxAnyone here thinking the tc is wanting the 1tb hd to play pirated games?... Dont get me wrong tc, i'm just saying.................

it's none of your business. i got it. you need it for porn :P since no one except you will touch your ps3 so all ur data will be safe... good lad[QUOTE="DJ_Lae"]Yes. I thought I read that same thing somewhere. I'm not sure what the limit is but I'm positive 500G is not the limit. I have a 650G in mine and heard of others installing a 750G.[QUOTE="Denji"]
