Does the PS3 allow for more than one person to be signed onto it at a time?

I ask this question because I was re-living the Resident 5 experience with my friend. We were playing on the same PS3. When it came to the time for us to buy new weapons or upgrade weapons my friend could not do this. The option for him to buy or upgrade was not highlighted. This seems strange to me.

Sadly, only one person can be signed in at a time. Even still, the second person may need their own account [like my gf has] in order to buy things. If their account is linked to yours, they might have access to the items that you buy.

It depends on the game. Resistance 2, for example, supports it.

Are you saying that I can have my own PSN ID, go over to a friend's house and log in with that ID and my friend will still have the ability to use his own? Meaning we can play co-op with separate IDs and get our own trophies?

Yes, as long as the game supports it...
