Does the PS3 auto-censor games

Ok I am from australia and want to import GTA4 US version because the AUS version will be consored. However I have heard that my australian PS3 will auto censor the game back to the AUS version. Is this true?? If so thats pretty high-tech, but also pretty crap.

Not possible, because your australian PS3 probably wont even read the disc. We have slightly different hardware to both the European and American consoles... Australia gets jibbed again!mattyperkins

region free yeah, due to Blueray.

But im not to sure if the hardware and software running inside the consoles is the same...

ie, american and UK versions of the PS3 got hardware for backwards compatibility

Australian PS3's got software emulation......... which to put it bluntly.... was poo.....

and now it doesnt even come with that, im just not to sure if our Playstations over here could run overseas games, but hey, if someone knows that they can, then i stand corrected.

On the other hand, since there is no R rating in the esrb in Australia, it would be illegal to successfully or even TRY to import the game. I remember a bloke i read about selling the game manhunt in aus, and being fined something like 15 thousand dollars...... They take banned games pretty seriously, so if you ffind out that it can run it, and wont sensor it.. just be carefull when buying it lol

It's region free, i have japanese and US games on my european ps3 and it works just fine.

biggest load of BS. They will not fine you for importing a game. Its illegal to sell R18+ games in Australia not to buy them from overseas. So your safe.
