I got a PS3 a few weeks ago...and if I just download a demo from the store and it sits for 30 minutes or so while doing it...it is actually really hot to the touch. so hot that i think it may cause damage.

is this normal? does your ps3s run hot as well?

It's normal, don't worry. I bought a pelican intercooler only because I live in the desert and it gets REALLY hot out here. I have had my PS3 on 24/7 with the intercooler for about 5 months straight with no problems. After I got in the intercooler it actually folds on Folding@Home faster. It moves alot more air threw My PS3 and the air that comes out is about alot cooler than without it. Im not saying you or anybody else needs the intercooler, but I wanted to extend the life of my $600 machine. If anybody is interested in an intercooler make sure you get a Pelican one and not the Nyko one. The Pelican intercooler has its own power source and wont void your warrenty.

If you keep your PS3 in a well ventilated area you shouldn't have any problems. Your PS3 will turn off before it ever overheats. So no worries.

I keep a water bottle right next to my PS3 and I spray alittle mist into the intake vents ever now and then.

You know you worry to much when: You sprey your PS3 with water

Seriously, just play the thing, get an intercooler if your really worried... i've yet to hear about a PS3 suddenly bursting into flame...

Sure it gets hot, but nowhere near as hot as my other console.
