It seems everyday the PS3 is being hit hard by gaming websites and adopters of the system but the PS3 is really right on track in terms of sales... The article below helps show that the PS3 is far from being a loser.

People are expecting too much out of a 600$ machine. It's actually quite surprising to see that PS3 does better than 360 in Japan and some parts of Europe. The Ps2 userbase will transfer to PS3 once the console hits 200-300$. fanboys shouldn't be so damn ignorant and play analyst by saying that PS3 is a flop.

Im assuming your saying the ps3 is right on track, and just about even with 360's first 10 month sales.

If so then i wouldnt say thats good, they need to be catching up not keeping pace, this is why MS came out first for this advantage.

Yes it has an even sales with 360 in the first 10 month but after that 360 started taking off, 1.1 million sold in december than every month since then 360's lead has been growing over the next 10 months.

So going off that chart this time next year they will be in the same posistion with half the install base of 360.

The reason people say this is bad because it is, the playstations brand is the biggest gaming brand ever and everybody including you guys expected it to fly out the blocks before it was launched.

This time last year everybody(ps3 fangirls) were saying by fall 07 ps3 will be "dominating" and theres no signs of that happening only sign the gap will grow after ths holiday season, meaning more devs jumping on board the 360;s imstall base meaning more games for 360 and 90% of multi-platofrm games will lead on 360 and be ported to ps3.

Persoanlly im not really bothered which wins aslong as both do well, i want both to do well i own both, but i want ps3 to start picking up as really its not looking rosey, its not looking doomed like 360 fangirls will say but its not doing great.

Sony didnt think the big price point would matter at the start because its playstation "people will work harder to get it" .

Its definitly not down and out but its not doing good, its doing average and needs to do better and im sure it will, in the words of the fangirls "just give it time".

"It's actually quite surprising to see that PS3 does better than 360 in Japan" really.

Even if 360 got 10 amazing jrpg's it would not do better than ps3, well it might for each month those games came out but that wouldnt last long.

One of my good friends i japanese he went to the same school's as me for around 10 years, and i always wondered why all his parents stuff where japanese makes everything was japanese tv's/hi-fi's anything they could buy that was being made by a japanese company they would, if they needed a toaster his dad would search out a toaster made by a japanese company.

My friend recently got his own flat and after going round i noticed the same trend so i asked why all the japanese stuff and he said because im japanese, i said am english and my tv is japanese, he said because of loyalty.

Japanese are very loyal people and from my expierence they will rarely accept anything made by another country.

360 will always be in last place in japan.

Don't believe any of the stupid sales numbers you can see (especially nexgenwars and VGchartz)

Sony said they shipped 11 million PS3s : it's an official statement

Months ago they said the 60Gb model will be discontinued, now we hear it's imminent because a 40Gb model will be released

It can only mean that 90% have already been sold to shops or players, and the shops don't want to keep hundreds for fun, they know they'll sell them ; so we should be about 8-9 million ... or maybe it's the announcement? 10 million reached?

Sony kinda did it to themselves. they hyped up so much and everyone was all going crazy after e3 2005 . Losing games like UT3 and ASSASSIN CREED also hurt some.

Sony didn't come out of the gate so hot, so when you make promise you have to fulfil them and they didn't.

But I think late ps3 will take off in 2008 andstart selling great. Just give the beast some time to wake up :P

I have no doubt that the PS3 is going to pick up. However the facts on those charts aren't accurate. While the PS3 may be selling at about the same rate as the 360 did you have to take into account that the 360 sold at that rate because they couldn't supply stores. They can't sell at a faster rate if they don't have something to sell. The PS3 on the other hand had consoles on shelves the entire time.

PS3 is about to start getting a whole plethera of good software, pretty much starting this month and running through 2008 gradually, in most cases given enough time between games to finish the one u just bought before picking up the next one, generally speaking. Its going to start with Folklore which looks like its going to become a burried treasure, which is gonna be sad but is still gonna happen, and i'd say a good kick off to PS3 owners, it may be a couple years off, but PS3 is DEFINATELY not down and out.

It makes me sad though because my Wii is severely lacking software itself :(

the 360 is both... not selling well AND is bound to die out first. with the winning format being Blu Ray, 33+% ring'o death, playstation's huge titles just showing up around the corner, price cut on the ps3... you guys do the maths.

the only console that surprised me with its sales is the Wii... and honestly we all can assume it pretty much will die by itself... when people start to realize its nothing more than last gen graphics with a new controler... it will be hard to keep the interest much longer. its been like that for Nintendo for a few generations now.

Dude, I agree with you about Folklore. But please don't mention Folklore and "buried treasure" in the same sentence... That makes me think of other things... LOL

Is it really surprising??? Sony is a Japanese corporation...so the PS3 would have better sales than the 360 (which is an American corporation) in Japan...as for Europe, well, America is not as popular as we in the states might think...

Hmm.. I think in Europe it has a lot less to do with blind patriotisme as in some other countries since most of the stuff we have here is made in other countries.

It just appears that europe has a fondness for Playstation products.. as a lot of people don't even know or stand still at the fact that its a sony device.
