Haha, I actually called Gamestop yesterday to see how much a near mint condition fatty PSP would be to trade in ( I wasn't going to trade it in, my friend and I just wanted to see how much they'd rip me off if I ever wanted a slim PSP) and they said for a near mint PSP they'd give $50
I just laughed and said thanks and hung up.
I don't trade in anything at Gamestop, but I do purchase my games there. sinistergoggles
Yup same here. Personally all the ones I go to have no biased employees.
I'm sick and tired of all the "Don't go to Gamestop" threads.
For God's sake, if you don't understand the concept of supply and demand, or a company's God-given right to make a profit, then don't trade in your games. That's fine. I get it. You don't get what you think your games are worth when you trade them in at Gamestop. Maybe someday you'll try to trade in your car that you spent $38,000 on two years ago, only to have some dealership offer you $9000, regardless of the fact that they're going to turn around sell it for well more than that.
To be honest, I used to MANAGE a Gamestop, but I choose not to trade any of my stuff in there. Not because of what a rip off it is, but because I'm one of those rare freaks who actually keeps the crap I spend my money on. But I sure heck am not going to stop buying my games there.

Funny thing everybody makes these threads and yet people keep going to the store.

Swap Gamestop for Game and I am with you there!
For God's sake, if you don't understand the concept of supply and demand, or a company's God-given right to make a profit, then don't trade in your games. septemberluc
All apart from the god given part, yep. If there was such a thing as god I seriously doubt he'd care about some random company making a fast buck :)
... but because I'm one of those rare freaks who actually keeps the crap I spend my money on.septemberluc
I honestly don't understand the obsession with trading in! I have a large collection of games going back to my very first days as a gamer. I still load a 24 year old tape into a 27 year old computer to have some retro fun. Don't people see the value of software beyond what they can get off the next big title? Geeze.
One day there will be museums dedicated to this stuff. Gaming has had a huge cultural impact around the world. It has grown from a cottage industry into one that rivals both music and film.
Keep your games people, you'll regret trading them in in years to come :)
How can a person stop making don't go to gamestop threads? Gamestop sure, has to do business to make a profit like others, but anybody can admit they do some shotty things. When you go out and buy a 40$ game, and only get offered 7$ for it there WHILE not only is it a popular game, they have no used versions of it, how is that not just a bit cheap? AND you could instead sell it on ebay to make a 25-30$ profit? Ebay doesn't take a whole lot out of what you sell. 5%-10% of the ending price usually.
Then, they have their shotty preorder programs. Usually, most get 3-5 preorder promotional items, and don't keep up to their word and call you. Heck, they rarely call me when the actual game comes out. And this is when I'm unemployed as well, so I couldn't have missed calls. I've found out enough times, that employees will take up the preorder items for themselves. It just really depends on the store.

LOL, I'm not sure why I found this so funny, but I did :D
You watch any South Park?:PGoozex.com
I trade my games on Goozex. It's pretty good for trade values. Except you have to be pretty paitient. It's like a line. I would give more detail, but I have to go lol.
And to the person about the PSP trade in. There is a deal where you trade in two games and you get an extra 20 credit. LOL. Man, they rip you off so bad when it comes to trade ins.
If you look around, there is a 25% off coupon on used PS3 games right now. I used that to pick up Genji for 14.06 (after coupon, edge card, and tax) instead of 19.99 + tax. I went the next day to exchange the game because I just could not enjoy it. I picked up Stuntman Ignition (demo was fun) for 12.66 (after coupon, edge, and tax). Employee mistake and I ended up getting the game for 5.08 after the transaction. ^__^
I work at blockbuster my manager traded in about 10 ps2 games, 3- 360 games, 2 xbox, and a couple of gamecube he now has a bout a 338 dollar credit on his accountPeterTimpa
i have a bunch of gamecube and xbox games that i dont play anymore, blockbuster takes them?

Flame_Blade88
 and they sell it to you for 100+
Gamestop's trade in values SUCK. They rarely will ever give you 50% for the most recent killer titles. And older games are a joke.
I use Goozex.com 'cause you get full value for your game by trading.
mztazmz
I use goozex too, funny thing is I've only gotten one ps3 game, rest were either ps2 or ps1.

probably because they realize that if they don't trade in their games they'll get the same praice as best buy. PLus they have that bargin bin with older games. I laugh at the screen queens who spend 60$ on a game when there are ps1 games that still kick ass.
