Y'know the PLAYSATION3 logo flashes on screen and goes 'ding'... They took it out to reduce time getting into games, since everyone knows they are playing a PS3 so...
Yeah I miss it, I heard they got rid of it so games loaded quicker, but all that's seemed to have happened is you end up staring at a black screen for longer.
i'm pretty sure it had something to do with the old gameboot using up too much memory or something like that. it was spoken about on an article, i'll link it if i can find it.
I never even noticed when they got rid of it. I actually liked the PS1 game boot best of all, that music was cool.

I agree with both points you make. The orange sony triangles and the zschoooooom noise is just unforgetable really. I don't notice much about the PS3's interface anymore. It's all too flowy and sparkly. I'm not complaining, it's very pretty, but it's not as memorable as the orange triangles.
I'm glad they removed the game boot. Its pointless. You're already playing the PS3, so there's no need for any name-dropping. What I don't like is how they changed the system boot to throw in those goofy little fairy sparkles. My TV turned into Edward Cullen. :(
