Doom 3 BFG Edition

Just wondering if anybody is planning on picking it up this upcoming week.

I for one, have been excited about it every since I heard it was going to be released months ago.

Im such a die hard doom fan. Can't wait!

The original doom is what got me into first person shooters. I know this game wont dissapoint. I feel the $39.99 price tag is worth it.

I got it preordered on Day 1 Digital. Can't wait, some of my fondest memories from the last generation was Doom 3 co op and I'm looking forward to doing it again with all the gameplay tweaks and extra levels.

This game is PERFECT for Halloween. When i played it through on the OG Xbox, I likened it to a haunted house... Buy this game, strap on the headphones, and drink it in. As an action game, and as a game on the whole, fairly by-the-numbers...

... But oh, the ambience and scares! It's nigh-on perfect at what it does. I hope the translation comes out well, some of these HD make-over games can get trashed in translation. I will be awaiting reviews and forum posts, as I am also broke this week.

So it all works out.

But sereiously, if you have even an inkling of interest, you will not be let down. Best haunted house ride EVER.

I played Doom 3 on PC when it came out but I am interested in the PS3 version.I need to see it first though as I'm not sure about the graphics boost it's supposed to be getting.

I'll probably check it out eventually, but I'll wait until I can get it for $20 less.

Yeah, I'm getting it, Kind of wish it was 29.99 instead of 39.99, but still lots of value. I didn't play any of the expansions for Doom 3 and of course there's Lost Levels. Doom 3 was in my top 3 favourites of last gen.

I wanted to get the theme :P . If you preorder and are a PS+ member you save 5 dollars on the price and get a theme.

Geez $40 is a steep price for this in my opinion. I'm sure Doom 3 and the Lost Mission is a good game, but not worth $40. Probably get it when it gets around $20.

Well you get Doom 1 and 2 as well as the Doom 3 expansion pack. Back then expansions were more then just 2 or 3 hour long dlc packs. It's like it's own game. So you are getting 4 games plus 7 all new levels, basically. To me, the game is worth it for nostalgia reasons but I can understand why someone wouldn't want to pay $40 for it.

I actually just picked it up for 45 dollars cash lol because I had no plans this weekend and couldn't wait till tuesday to play it. Found someone selling it at a flea market.

About to play it, Can't wait!

As a side note, the guy had 007 legends which also comes out tuesday for 70 bucks lol. I laughed when he told me the price.

Game's $29.99 on PC. I have a PS3 but I think I'll get the PC version.

Definitely picking it up. Doom was one of very few awesome FPS games I played in the past. ;)

Im enjoying it so far. It has everything I was hoping for. I did a quick launch of all 3 games just to see how it plays and now im starting on playing doom 1. Brings back so many memories.

So I have been playing this game this morning.

Honestly they did a great job with this.

Im two hours into the doom 3 campaign and I can honestly say the game feels fresh. It doesn't seem like the same old thing.

For any doom fan, heck any first person shooter fan, this is a must buy. Graphically they did a really good job making it look polished.

Couple of tips:

Play it on veteran. It seems harder in a good way and you will enjoy it more.

Search all areas. You will need to find pda's hidden which will open more supply crates. You need the ammo.

Move around alot when shooting. The enemies are no push overs.

Use the flashlight when you really need it, its a good feature that it runs out of battery after a minute. Sometimes you want to enjoy the dark atmospher...

Im having alot of fun with this game. Perfect for the halloween season. It still is scary and caught me off gaurd a couple times.

I v'e also been waiting for this game ever since they announced it at E3.

I'm a big shooter fan and even tho i never had the chance to complete the game on the original xbox i'm really looking forward to this release.

You may be kidding, I'll assume you are. "DOOM 3" is a single-player game, no matter what the options say to the contrary. Being alone in this game is one of the true tension-creators and I would urge everyone to play it straight-out as Jah intended the first time through. I'm really not alright with the change in flashlight tech (you can now use a light strapped to your weapon full-time, which is a shame), but playing this game co-op seems super-contrary, knowing the game as well as I do...

... I'm not saying NEVER play it with a pal, but I'm really asking you to play it alone for max scares the first time through. You'll enjoy it more. After that, feel free to turn it into a co-op game.

So many surprises... So many great events, villians, I just LOVE iD Software! I envy the green players out there who've never played the game before. You're in for SUCH a GOOD TIME!!!

I'll be joining you-all after I get "XCOM: Enemy Unknown". I still have my Steel Case Edition of "DOOM 3" on my OG Xbox, so I'm content for now but I am looking forward to owning this for my PS3.

I am a huge Doom fan, always have been. I bought this day one, without hesitation.

Doom 1 and 2 are great ports. Having online play is awesome.

Doom 3 looks nice and runs well, but id made a horrible design choice with the controls that basically breaks the game until a patch is released. They put the sprint button on L3, and there is no way to change it. There are 4 control setups, and they all have sprint mapped to L3. That makes playing the game at the higher difficulty setting pretty much impossible. You can't reliably quick dodge from side to side, you can't sprint with ease. How are you supposed to make a nightmare runthrough with the sprint button all jacked up.

To make matters worse, sprint on Doom 1 and 2 is on L1, exactly were it should be.... But no not Doom 3. And there is an option to turn 'always run' on, but it only works in multiplayer in Doom 3.

I just don't know what they were thinking....

There doesn't seem to be any co-op in this version of Doom 3. Just thought I'd note that to prospective buyers. It doesn't bother me because doom is awesome single player but I know it will bother some people.

Fair warning to all, the load times in the retail version of this game are atrocious. It makes it pretty much unplayable since you die a lot in this game and every time results in 30-40 seconds of loading. They need to patch the game to allow for a hard drive install.
