I was just wondering where it is possible to download movies on the memory stick for the Psp? I am not interested in any pirate stuff only legal. Is it possible to transfer your own dvds to the Psp?

It's kind of a catch twenty-two. On one hand it's legal to make a copy of a movie you own. On the other hand, it's illegal to circumvent copy protection, which you need to do when copying a movie. If you want movies on your psp and don't want to break the law, your best bet is to just download them off of PSN.

There are completely legal programs out there on the store shelves which will transfer video to the PSP. When a video is converted to the PSP, the resolution goes to complete garbage if you take that file and then try to make it something else (ie pirate the thing to DVD - terrible picture)... but the movie looks fine for watching on a PSP. I have recently seen programs from Roxio and a host of other companies at Best Buy here in the States, and there are tons of DVDtoPSP programs out there on the Internets for free and those which cost money. That said, keep in mind that you usually get the quality you pay for so if it's free and buggy... well, you know.

But don't feel like you're doing something wrong simply by utilizing a store-bought transfer program. As usual, it's a case of the technology being available and only the heart of the user shifts it into the "Right" or "Wrong" column. If you are using the program simply to transfer for your own viewing then you're good. Giving the files to a friend is bad. Selling the file means you are eternally damned.

Copy?
