So finally tried out the movie service on PSN. Its been over two hours and not done yet. I could wait for movie to download. But does that defeat the purpose of downloading movies? After this experience. ill just stick to Net flix.

I download movies from PSN is 10 mins max. I have verizon fios. So maybe a higher speed internet is the way to go.
Yeah it took over 3 hours for me to download Watchmen in HD when I rented it a couple months ago. The file was almost 9GB though so I guess its not really that surprising it took that long.

If you are DLing a movie that is 9gig on PSN in 3hrs consider yourself lucky. That is fast compared to when I DLed a movie on my pc "torrent" and it took like 4 days.
So anyone complaining about 3hrs is a tad dramatic. I personally dont care about the movies on PS3 or 360. I would rather just go buy the movies at walmart for less or not much more and actually own them.

I wasn't complaining. I stated it took 3 hours, and that it was to be expected for a file that large. How is that me complaining? It was kind of a bummer to have to wait 3 hours to watch the move though since I didn't realize you had to download it to rent it. I wound up having to watch it a couple days later because by the time it finished it was like 2:00 in the morning. That was the first movie I rented though so I've since learned to download them earlier if I want to watch them that night. And downloading movies from PSN is very different from downloading a torrent. Torrents are entirely dependent on sharing, while PSN has its own server.[QUOTE="FunkyHeadHunter"][QUOTE="Texas2089"]

Yes you can. I didn't because I don't want to take the chance that the movie catches up to the download and I get stuck waiting in the middle of the movie. I only rent HD movies though so the big files take longer to download than the length of the movie. For SD rentals you could probably start watching it withing a few minutes and wouldn't have to worry about that problem.I haven't rented a movie on PS3 yet, but can't you watch it while it's downloading? Say 25% of the movie is downloaded, can't you start watching it and it will continue to download? I know you can on XBOX 360.
