Title: YES maybe this should be in the game recommendations thread but before deciding whether or not to lock this listen to me! The game recommendations thread is old and barely used, if someone asks a question it takes ages to get answered, also i want to ask the buyers of this specific game to give me reasons why i should get this for christmas or not!

Topic: When i first saw it announced i was quite interested in getting it, but now i'm not so sure. I've seen gameplay of it and it looks pretty good, the graphics look amazing aswell. However when i read reviews of it, alot of people said the graphics were like PS2 or not as good as fallout 3 (imo i thought Fallout 3 was the worst piece of crap and the graphics were so bad) but on the videos the graphics look really good. I was planning on asking this as one thing for christmas because i think it looks good. But after reading the reviews i have mixed decisions now, so if anyone who has played the game can give me reasons why or why not to get this game that would be great. Also could someone clarify on the graphics for me, because i have downloaded trailers off the PSN store and i think the graphics are fine but there's a lot of complaints about them.

Oh and also just throwing it in there, i did enjoy Mass effect, Fable 1 and 2, and Oblivion was ok i guess. I also enjoy Guild wars and WoW so i'm quite an RPG fan.

Also can someone answer these questions please:

1) Whats the level cap?

2) What is the fighting system like?

3) Approx play time?

4) Difficulty?

5) Easy to get the hang of?

the game is good and nothing like Fallout 3 or Oblivion. I think the graphics are fine i don't know where they get this from. yes the graphics aren't Crysis Killzone 2 or Uncharted but they aren't a Wii game either. unless you are truely a graphics whore the graphics are fine. there is some stuttering but it's never game breaking. I haven't played Mass Effect but I'd imagine the game is similar to that since it is a bioware game. 1) Whats the level cap? the level cap is 20. I just hit level 20 while going through the final area. 2) What is the fighting system like? you control a party of 4. it's very strategy oriented and you will be "pausing" the game durring fights to select spells, cast heal, use potions, or use skills. there are hot keys as well, but you will still want to pause. if you don't want to do this you could always play on the casual difficulty. 3) Approx play time? without really doing many of the side quests it took me about 50 hours. side quests will push that up quite a bit 4) Difficulty? you can choose your difficulty and change it anytime. I started out on normal got tired of dieing all the time half way through the game and played the rest of it on casual. right now I'm replaying it on hard. 5) Easy to get the hang of? trying to micromanage everything at first was difficult and it took me a while. It still feels a little clunky to me, much better suited for the PC. if you can get it for the PC, if you can't the PS3 is a good alternative. It's a great RPG and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes the genre.

That's a lotta questions. Go read some reviews and watch some videos first. Giantbomb is one I suggest heavily. Very un-biased, very casual and very truthful.

game is super tough and I am only playing it on Hard.

I like the ability to change the difficulty whenver you want. I had to knock it down to casual for one fight in ozgrammar for a few reasons (bad save + no healer/lack of potions) and if I was not able to I would have had to restart the game and I was like 30 hours in!

Gameplay? I would say that it reminds me very much of World of Warcraft.

Fantastic cut scenes and story too so far and I am only half way though :)

Dragon Age is an amazing and immersive game which you should definitely get. However, I am one of those people who feels the graphics are on the poor side. It's certainly not PS2 level, but it is noticeably inferior to Fallout 3 (which I think had pretty good graphics) and Mass Effect. But the game is so great you won't be worrying about the graphics when you play.

1) there is technically no level cap. however, the way experience points between levels work, after level 20, it becomes quite tough to hit the next next level.

2) You have 4 players at a time at your command, one of which you directly control. The AI is okay, but you can gain tactics slots, kind of like with FF12 to have better control over the AI if you want. 6 special abilities can be mapped to your buttons and everything else works via a radial menu that pauses the game while you use it.

3) Who knows. If you do all the side quests, take time to explore, along with the main quest it could take 70 hours or more. That doesn't even include the downloadable expansions that are out now, and one more coming before Christmas.

4) You can select the difficulty. I'm playing normal and it seems fine. It's not too tough, but not so easy you can just rip through battles without worrying about health.

5) I barely read the manual and it is fairly easy to get the hang of.

I just tried it. I shouldnt have played Demons Souls before because I tasted a sweet nectar of gods with that game and Dragons Age (I will finish) but...its got its issues. There are some major bugs with this game and Im kinda shocked and upset that the framerate is so messed up during cutscenes. You know, I wouldnt mind during gameplay (im used to it from my life of gaming but for crying out loud... keep the cutscenes intact! It really killed the momentum for me... Im sad.
