13 things wed like you to know about this video:

1. If youd like to see a version of the video with significantly higher image quality than shown on YouTube (and a closer representation of how the game looks on PS4), youll be able to download the 1080p video online soon.

2. The time of day is accelerated by x60, which is why the video covers from 6pm 9pm in Chile in just three laps. Accelerating the speed of time is something you can choose to adjust before you race and its also why the sunlight disappears so quickly at 1:58. smiley.gif

3. Design Director Paul Rustchynksy is the driver. Hes using a Thrustmaster T80 DRIVECLUB Edition wheel, which explains why his last lap (in first person racing view) is the fastest.

4. The video was captured in one take from a version of the game still in development. Optimisations to the visual quality of the game are made every day, so while there are lots of impressive details on show you may also spot some things were still working on like improving the anti-aliasing for certain assets and making sure that nothing pops in to view.

5. We decided to show this time trial event with on-screen display disabled, because lots of people wanted to see this and its something you can choose to configure in the game. We noticed that when we did this, the game still plays the sound effects for Overdrives, so were fixing this.

6. The way that we have captured each cars distinctive audio is evident here because weve disabled the in-game soundtrack music, but weve actually just made further improvements to the quality of the audio in the game today (and fixed the backfire so that you can hear it properly on the Audi R8 V10 Plus), so its still getting better.

7. All lights illuminate the environment authentically. The dashboard fully illuminates, so you can see the glow of the buttons in the control panel above the rear-view mirror and you can see the reflections in the windscreen and the drivers window. Similarly, youll notice that the brake light illuminates the cars active spoiler in the first two laps. Hopefully this will draw your eye away from the glitch with the cars tyre smoke (which is missing) and excessive anti-aliasing on the Audis bevelled rear window frame which we are of course still developing.

8. The reflector lights (cats eyes/snake eyes) on the safety barriers surrounding the track reflect light authentically too. You can see this most clearly at 02:30.

9. Ghost cars (and opponent cars) are all fully realised in the rear-view mirrors, but theres currently a small glitch that makes them render incorrectly when the sun goes down. This will be improved by launch.

10. The crowds release balloons throughout the race. The balloons should react authentically to the wind and light up correctly at night and appear less frequently too but the game is still in development after all.

11. Theres a tiny portal to another dimension (aka a glitch in the world) at 0:32. Weve fixed it in the game already.

12.The sky is clear of clouds so that you can see the stars twinkling up above. This wont always be the case; you can choose how clear or cloudy the sky is when you set-up a race and it will be uniquely generated every time. On the occasions when the fog rolls in and you can only see the tips of those mountains in the distance and the cars in front are casting long shadows towards you as the sun rises or sets on the horizon and youre breezing through it all 150mph its utterly sensational!

The difference between current gen and next gen games is going to be more subtle and likely things you'll never be able to appreciate by watching a video or looking at photos. You CAN see it if you look for it but the average Joe will never notice the difference. In Driveclub for instance, you have real time shadows, real time reflections, real time lighting and fully realised polygonal scenery. This is what allows them to offer true night/day cycles. Watch this closely and you'll start to notice those subtleties. Focus on the inside of the car for instance or the barriers as he turns into the sun. Look at the building as it rotates and you see why everything being polygonal makes a huge difference when real time lighting is used. Pick any spot and concentrate on it and you'll start to see what next gen is:

Now look at a game that doesn't use realtime lighting or fully polygonal scenery. Ignore the vehicle or the location, that will take your eye off what you are looking for. Pay particular attention to the shadows under and in front of the vehicle. There is absolutely no difference between the shadow effects on the buildings or objects either. The light doesn't effect any object in this scene because it's baked in. If you stopped and looked at the cannopy or the trees, no matter what angle you looked at it from, the shadow would look exactly the same. And those trees are 2D by the way.

It looks good, but I see myself playing more Forza 5. I will definitely try it out though since it will be free.

Yes according to what you prefer it is your choice never tried froza so I can't judge it But really Sony put wonderful option to make this game free for PS+ but not the complete version nice trick ;)

Amazing is the word that it really deserves when I see the big differnce between The alpha & beta demos.... Now I belive they can reach the level of the first trailer they showed :)

It looks like a movie. Very impressive for a launch title. In year 3 of ps4, the games will even look much better than the launch titles. I am still waiting until year 3 to purchase the ps4.

Like that I get to test it out for free, now I fear that if it plays great that I will be tempted to buy the full version.

The gameplay just surprises me, i hope the gameplay will be as tight as i think it will be
