DS4 battery kind of weak?

Anybody else getting some pretty crummy battery life? I'm getting something like four or five hours before I have to plug the thing back in and recharge. Just wondering if anybody is getting anything similar to see if I need to return the thing and get a new one.

Yeah i have the same kind of battery life, maybe 5-6 hours before i'am at 1 bar. I guess the big light take some of the juice

I mentioned this in another thread about battery life as well. Have either of you let your DS4 battery run all the way down until you have to plug it in and then let it fully recharge to calibrate the battery? And when I say have to plug it in, I mean the controller turns itself off.

Battery's that are not properly calibrated can show incorrect battery levels so that 1 bar may not truly represent 1 bar and you may get a whole bunch of hours on it until you calibrate the battery. Give that a shot and see if your battery life appears to improve. Note that it won't actually improve battery life but may make the meter more accurate.

Batteries made in the last 20 years don't need to have that done, you're going off an old wives tale.

5-6 hours is a pretty good length of time. Most people wouldn't play longer than that anyways.

I have noticed significant differences with cell phone battery meter accuracy after letting my device run all the way down in the past. Between that and many others noticing the same and articles from tech sites about calibration as recent as last month, I'm going to respectfully disagree.

I get 5 - 6 hours till one bar, but it's no biggie, i had an usb extension cable that makes the cable long so I can still play while plugged in :)

Yeah it doesn't last nearly as long as the DS3 did.

I guess it's not terrible, but it would be nice if you could have the option to turn the light bar off. That definitely drains some of the battery.

DS3 lasted 30 hours from a 15 min charge.

DS4 lasting 5 hours is complete bullshit.

Yeah I have to agree. My DS3 lasted a LONG time on a single charge. Not sure if it's the lightbar draining the battery but I hope they allow us to toggle it off at some point.

It's not the biggest deal in the world but it is a pain in the ass.

My DS3 would last quite a long time considering I would disable rumble. The DS4 actually has a pretty big battery but the touchpad and lightbar probably use quite a bit of the battery. I hope Sony allows us to disable the lightbar if we want to. It would be a great battery saving option.
