DS4 trouble shooting?

So I bought my new DS4 and i plug it in to my ps3 but it doesn't work... What do??? I used a couple of cell phone chargers I had lying around and they are working for my phone but not for the controller. Do I need to buy one specifically for the controller or what?? Really regretting this purchase now T^T

I don't have a PS4 controller, but did you try to plug it into your PS3 with the usb?
