well for a game that's been in development for so long there's no excuse for it to be bad, if you don't like harsh reviews don't put out junk, that simple, so next time go cry to your momma if you can't take the heat

There is a difference in writing a review saying "The game just doesn't come together and ends up being a sloppy first person shooter, and there are much better offerings out there"
And:
"A festering irrelevance with nothing to offer the world" - taken from the Destructoid review

Eh. Don't take any of Jim Sterling's reviews seriously. He trash talks on everything. Regardless, no amount of sugar coating in the world could mask the way people really feel about this game. Even Kevin Van Ord went a little overboard in his criticism. There's clearly a reason for that and it's not the fact that reviewers are being venomous.Eh. MrSelf-DestructNot that I am defending Duke Nukem as a better game than what has been reviewed. I am never going to touch this game. Didn't have interest before the reviews and zero interest outside of them.
I am defending the makers of this game by saying that there are better ways to give criticism on something without being unprofessional and sounding like a teenager wrote the review.
It isn't just the game industry that does this, it is every entertainment industry. No one knows how to write professionally anymore. Everyone writes in a style similar to a blog and they throw in all kinds of stuff just to get hits on the internet.

"There are better ways to give criticism on something without being unprofessional and sounding like a teenager wrote the review." I completely agree. That's why I said don't take Jim Sterling seriously. He writes like a child. lol A professional review is no place for snarky comments and hyperbole.[QUOTE="fsurb28"]

there is no difference as long as it's the truth, people need to stop being so sensitive and butt hurt about something true
one thing i really don't get is how some people will go out and buy whatever and if it turns out to be crap they'll say " omg why in the heck did i buy this crap, it's completely useless," so it's cool for some to say that but if a reviewer says that it's unprofessional and childish, like i said before if you can't take the heat don't give out junk, do yourself a favor with that criticism - go look in the mirror and ask yourself what can i do next time to make it better so i don't get harsh reviews
Also, the game actually has its moments. I regret paying the full price of admission, but I have at least enjoyed about $15 worth, so far. :P MrSelf-Destruct
i respect your opinion on your purchase, i'm not trying to act like a troll ( now that i got that part out of the way ), how did you feel after realizing you only enjoyed 15 out of 60, did you say anything like what a piece of junk

Err... I've trashed talked the hell out of this game, actually. What's your point? I'm not a professional reviewer. If I was, I would have conveyed my feelings much more diplomatically than the way I have on these forums.[QUOTE="fsurb28"][QUOTE="MrSelf-Destruct"]Also, the game actually has its moments. That's fine. I have no problem with people speaking their minds, either. I don't even have a problem with any of the Duke Nukem reviews I've read. I'm only saying that when it comes to reviews it is the reviewer's job to offer constructive criticism and objective facts that will give the reader enough information to know what they can expect and make and *informed* decision on whether or not they buy the game. There is a massive difference between "This game is complete crap and not worth the 1s and 0s it's made of" and "This game has inexcusably long load times, entire missions that involve little to no gameplay and don't do much to contribute to the rest of the experience, and most of the jokes are unfunny and can come off as down right offensive." I just think reviewers are doing their job best when they aren't being over opinionated, over reactive, immature, and petty. Jim Sterling is a good example. Most of his reviews are written in a fashion that is intended to get a laugh out of his readers. And much like the jokes in Duke Nukem Forever... it's not very funny. :P2k fired the redner group this morning. Story over MethodManFTWLol. Good decision. What's the point of having a Public Relations team when they don't know how to Relate to the Public.
