I've been playing nothing but Nintendo platforms and games for several years now with the exception of my PS2. Recently I've gotten Rock Band on my PS2 and the PS3 bundle for the hardware, and I've realized two things. The PS2 version sucks in comparison and I have a copy of the PS3 game and no PS3 to play it with. Now I'm considering buying a PS3 so I can experience the true Rock Band game and maybe play The Orange Box as well, but because I have almost no knowledge of the PS3, could someone please answer me these questions:

1) Do you have to pay for online play?

2) How much does the PS3 usually cost?

3) Does the PS3 require an HDTV?

4) Are there any specific problems with the PS3 console?

its a solid console, more so than the 360 just because of the free online and the lack of any major faults (RRoD).

your cheapest choice is the 40 gig with no backward compatible for $400 or you can get the 80 gig with B C plus the game Motorstorm for $500.

The only game i have had a problem with is COD4, when loading offline games it tends to freeze every now and then and have to leave console off for an hour or so.

1) No.

2) PS3s start at $399.

3) No.

4) No.

However, the best thing to do is to read ABDELMESSIH101's PS3 FAQ THREEAD. It is quite good.

thanks a bunch for the answers. But I just have one more question to confirm something. Are all models of the PS3 compatible with standard definition TVs or are only certain models compatible with SDTVs?

You will definitely enjoy the PS3, And if you can manage to get the 80 gig version that would be even better. Although the best of all PS3 versions was the 60 gig version (that you may be able to find used or remanufactured from some retailers). Sometimes if you cheak the Sony web site out you may find one there.

Just need to confirm one more thing. The PS3 is compatible with fullscreen TVs and not just widescreen TVs right?

Buy the PS3, it is great, you don't have to have a HDTV but like one person said it makes it much prettier to look at. Also, check your local Blockbuster to see if they are running a PS3 bundle right now. I have one in my area (VA Beach) right now selling an 80Gb w/Motorstorm, a couple BD movies and some other cool accessories for $499. I sorta wish I wouldn't have bought one for my Chrismas present now after seeing the bundle at Blockbuster. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20 as they say.
