I'm a huge fan of shooters and I'd like to know who prefers First-Person Shooters over Third-Person Shooters and vice-versa.

Personally, I prefer the Third-person perspective. Before, it was the total opposite. But Gears and Resident Evil 4 made me a fan of TPSes. I love to see my character in action and when I'm playing FPSes, I just feel like something is missing (even though my preference never interferes with my overall appreciation of a game). So, what about you guys?

i like games where you can switch inbetween. FPS is great because of the easy accuracy. Third Person is good because of the ability to see whats comming up behind you. they both have good things about them. but im more a FPS guy

I think I can't change it. But you're right, I should have add "Both" or "No Preference". Anyway, the poll just compiles answers so you (not personally, you "generally") can just type your answer.

I like TPS better because my field of vision is larger, but FPS make it seem more real since it's like you are the person and you are looking out of your own eyes.

FPS for PC shooters, TPS for console shooters

mouse+keyboard focus on aiming

joysticks focus on movement

hahah this isn't an easy question at all... I fell in love with 3rd person views after GoW and RB6V but I'm still feeling 1st person a little bit more because I'm so used to them, ie... CoD-->Cod3, CS and BF

Both. I think Rainbow 6: Vegas captured it perfectly. the 1st person for standard run 'n gun shooting, while switching to 3rd person when you stick to cover. It's a brilliant mechanic that tops Gears of War.

On consoles I prefere 3rd person because the controls make it harder in 1st person to get a good sense of your surroundings (compared to mouse/keyboard). The fov always feel a bit confined because turning around is too slow.

Yeah I agree MGS was the first game I played that used that (even though MGS is more stealth than shooter) and I thought it was very clever. Back to the poll though I voted for TPS because I've always preferred them but I just loved RFOM, I'ts the first FPS I've bought. Always rented them before that.

I didn't know you could do that on oblivion. You've just sold the publishers another copy of that game write to them and ask for a comission cheque:lol:

I like both but I chose FPS because of the aiming, quick moving camera and lack of cheating angles looking around corners.  I also notice that there is more clipping in a TPS than an FPS, the camera will go through walls and the such.  It does make the games easier to play in a third person perspective but I prefer an FPS.
