"We believe that PlayStation 3 will be a successful platform, and are developing technology and products for this console.
"However, as we do not believe that the installed base will be high enough until the second half of our 2008 financial year, most of our major product releases on the PlayStation 3 platform are not scheduled before that date."

That is a horrible business strategy and an easy way to anger a significant portion of the player base.

I wasn't a fan of their games anyways, the only ones that were decent were Tomb Raider, Hitman, and a few others I forget. Well, looks like some companies are throwing off the PS3 for 2007.

If by significant you mean the people who read about video game news all day and post their petitions here on Gamespot, then yes, a significant portion of their userbase will indeed be angered.

I think their point was there wasn't enough of a user base on the PS3 to worry about angering. If the majority of people were on the PS3, of course they wouldn't be doing this. But by their estimates, it wont be worth their time to put a game on the PS3 until the second half of 2008 after enough people have PS3s in their homes.

3 million users is not an insignificant number by any means. I do have to agree with some of the other users though. Eidos isn't the best developer out there in the first place, but it wouldn't hurt to have their games on the system.

Thats your opinion, and obviously Eidos doesn't agree with you. " The installed base won't be high enough until 2008." The extra time, money, and development needed to bring games over to the PS3 when the 360 has over 10 million isn't worth it.

Really? I don't think it is. One good game release and everyone will forgive you for your past transgressions. Does anyone care about the crap that Bungie released before Halo? Honestly? Do you ever hear about Alex Kidd anymore after Sonic the Hedgehog? Yet releasing a game that doesn't sell is *death* - no matter how good that game is. Look at Eternal Darkness - where were the sequels promised in the developer interviews? Oh right, the game didn't sell on the Gamecube, and now they're developing Too Human (ugh) for the 360. It's far better for PS3 fans for them to wait. If a company sells a game that doesn't do well on a system, they're going to stop supporting that system. Again - Silicon Knights - we could have Eternal Darkness 3 on the Wii, instead Wii fans get nill from them.

Eidos aren't confident that their games will sale.
