There has been rumors in some Asian web sites and Chinese sites in Hong Kong that 80Gb PS3 will stop production soon, instead, a 120Gb one will be produced. These sites even claim to have confirmation from a Australian Game Shop chain. But no specs or confirmation from Sony

Does anymore have any confirmation? I am planning to buy a PS3 cos of GTA and all those great games, but hate the fact that not all of it is backward capable. Cos I still have some PS2 games I would like to finish or replay. the reason I didn't buy the 80Gb yet is it's not even close to 60% ps2 playable, and that sucks..... unfortunately. Hope that if they really plan to make newer version of the update or newer machines, hope they would consider "old-timers" like myself.

The 80Gb can only read 56.67% Ps2 games cos it don't have the EE, only the GS; whereas the 20 and 60GB can read 93.33% since they have the EE (emotion Engine) and GS (Graphics Synthesizer)chip. This data has been confirmed by the Asian PS website. (Anyone else care to get more figures?)

And news say that the US GameStop shop has an internal bulletion saying that 80Gb will stop production soon. And the 120Gb will have the wirless Dual Shock 3 with vibrate function will be included.

The 80gb is being discontinued, and no future PS3 models will have BC. Sony made that statement not too long ago, no future Playstation product will have BC.

My word...how the PS3 has fallen from the 20gb and 60gb...those are great consoles.
