Thoughts on this game? I had never heard of it until I read a GamePro Top 24 PS3 game list.

Enslaved is the game Gamefly has just shipped me. I can't wait to play through it. It looks like it was made with love.
I really got a kick out of the demo on PSN... Though the platforming seemed a bit too easy, the pacing and the cinema feel of the game makes it pretty cool and you forget the ease because of the story and characters. Not the greatest challenge, but definitely a gem for it's strengths. Try the demo. It's a bit more like a movie that you can participate in, but not in a MGS or Final Fantasy way... I liked it.
Sounds like a good idea to get the demo. I just watched the GameTrailers review. Looks great.I really got a kick out of the demo on PSN... [QUOTE="SNESMaster420"]Let me know your first impressions on this thread, if you would. Sure thing. I probably won't be playing until Monday though. I am finishing up AC: Brotherhood this week as I can't stand to put that off any longer. I will try and remember to dig up this thread.Enslaved is the game Gamefly has just shipped me. great game to buy cheap if you want or it's just a rent, not much for replay value, should play it on hard. It's a pretty forgiving game if you don't.
It was a pretty solid game imo. I'm more into the campaign, i couldnt care less about multiplayer. . You can find it for around $30 easily. I paid $60 for it and it was definately worth the purchase
IMO, this is one of the easily overlooked games of 2010.
I enjoyed it, however Tripp annoyed me from time to time, and the game had a couple of technical issues, thats the worst i have to say about it, which isnt a big deal.
The good...the environments, the characters, the humor...the game has a style all its own. And the ending...its a mind blower.
Severly underrated for god knows what, It has an awesome cast of characters, the graphics are great (thought at times does suffer from screen tearing) the plot is good, the combat though simple is quite fun. I' would suggest renting it as it is a short game, you could platinum it in the time it takes to rent, and theres next to no replayability but it's great while it lasts.
My favorite thing about Enslaved is that it's just a fun game. It doesn't have the best graphics, combat, or platforming. The characters aren't anything special. It's just fun; like, simple, fun... which is exactly what most games now-a-days are missing. Definitely pick it up.
mediocre and cheap looking game...360's might look slightly better, but PS3's is very bad.
unless you need trophies, otherwise save your time and money from this one. GO get heavenly sword, it's a much better game (graphics) than enslaved.
Gameplay? lol that studio cant make games with good gameplay, so forget gameplay.
Its a decent game in the beginning I thought, but then as you get further I felt the Pigsy character although humourous drag down Trip and Monkey. The game was all about going on a journey being enslaved by Trip and then it kinda takes a back seat, when Pigsy arrives. Also as the battles become more intense the framerate and screen-tearing become so obvious and appaling. The game should definitely be played on Hard and thanks to that it will provide a decent challenge that keeps you on your feet.
i got it for xmas. still havent gotten to playin it yet. i just got done with vanquish, so i will soon. i loved heavenly sword and have high hopes for this even though it wasnt a exclusive. a game can be short and still be fun and of worth as long as it is memorable.

did I complain length? no...
Graphics is quite different between these 2 games...if you actually have played both on a nice HDTV...
Enslaved PS3 has frequently cheap background and very ugly cutscene (check motorcycle one, lol the background is a shame, where is detail? and in the last stage when they march to prymaid...same detail less background.) That doesnt happen in heavenly sword, beside Heavenly sword uses a lot of pre retended CG for cutscene, and it makes presentation much more poblish than ugly enslaved...btw enslaved is using unreal engine...no games look good with that game engine on PS3...
I enjoyed Heavenly Sword and was thinking about getting this. The characters and voice acting were terrific in the demo and the gameplay seemed alright. However, the jaggies were a big turn off for me. I have little patience for studios who can't optimize their code for smoother edges on PS3 (plenty of other studios have managed like Platinum Games and Capcom for starters). Still on the fence about this one.TheMoreYouOwn
what you see in enlsaved demo is what you get in game disc...it's as bad as demo...anyway dont expect it's same as heavenly sword, tho I dont like heavenly sword's gameplay, but its graphics is good at least.
Just popped in Enslaved (Ps3) for the first time and played for a hour and a half. The first thing that struck me was the unresponsive control. To put it simple, it takes a while for Monkey to start moving, something i'm not used to coming from Gow3 and DMC4. Had to compare with Castlevania: Los just to make sure nothing was wrong with my tv and the dreaded responsetime had suddenly increased, but no. Both Kratos and Gabriel moved like greased lighning. Is it suppose to be this way? Cause i've haven't seen any reviewer mention it. To me it would be a big minus if i were to review it.
I was about to say it was like $20.00 on amazon. Going to order Enslaved, Nier and Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom. For like $65 free shipping in no rush lol.
I was pretty disappointed with it. The platforming, while effective, pales in comparison to other modern platformers like Uncharted. The combat is dull, repetitave button-mashing. And the story got less and less interesting as the game went along. Probably the best thing about the game was Trip. She's cute.
I really enjoyed it. The only bad thing was the camera, which would swing around wildly while you were in the middle of combat, often leaving you unable to even see the enemy you were trying to hit. But other than that, the characters and story were great, the gameplay was fun, and the environments were really beautiful.

If i have a question about a game i bump whatever thread dealing with it. It's not like i bumped an old thread i created myself.
I enjoyed the game sure the graphics aren't the best some of the movement and controls a bit dodgy but its cheap at the mo and i would recommend a play through
It's actually rather good. I'm halfway through it and must say it has some really nice character development for an under the radar game. The combat isn't great, but also not horrible, just don't expect it to be like GOW style. Same goes with the platforming, which looks nice, but is pretty easy to do. Overall I 'd say pick it up since it's pretty cheap now. Apparently it was supposed to be a movie, but then they decided to make it a game, so the story is actually good.
Enslaved is flashy, short, and shallow. The plot is underwhleming with a terrible ending, and the characters are walking cliches with little development, but they're both presented well thanks to the great motion capture and voice-acting. Platforming, if it can even be labeled as such in Enslaved, is the definition of hand-holding - there is but one path through areas and failure is practically impossible. The combat is like any button-masher, there are a few options for variety but for the most part you'll stick to one combo throughout the game. Visually the game is pretty, but things get uglier past the halfway point - just a personal quip though. Screentearing and framerate issues are apparent, but not game-breaking. Also, the game is over in a few hours and there's really no reason to replay it unless you want to go back for some trophies. Haven't played the DLC so can't comment on that.
I wouldn't put Enslaved anywhere near a top 24 list - the game is a rental at best if you're interested.

pretty much sums up how i felt about it. i was bored and borrowed it from a friend when PSN was down.
The game is actually based on the Chinese classical novel "Journey to the West" which some older UK / Aus gamers might remember as the 70's TV series "Monkey".
The story-telling in the game is really good from what I've seen but the game-play is a bit basic.
I've played the first third of the game but got sidetracked playing other games and probably won't be going back to it until I've finished something off.
