Hmm, as a whole this gen has really lacked great horror games. I'd say Siren is probably your best bet tho, check it out.

not a lot of horror games that are really scary this gen. at least not on the ps3. Siren so far seems to be your best bet. Dead Space is fun but not that scary and same goes for RE5. the good horror games seem to be on the Wii and most of them aren't making there way over seas or are being canceled.

On PS3?

Condemned 2 with no lights and high sound.

Dead Space is rarely scary.

FEAR 2 isnt scary.

If you have a decent computer, get FEAR. It blows them all away on the scary factor.

It wasn't that scary. But I had god mode and inf slo-mo on so I might not have been doing it wrong.

Saw is a decent game. I know it has been getting average reviews but I am enjoying it. Combat is weak thats all. Has a really good atmosphere though.

Yeah, as other's have mentioned, this generation is pretty sparse for quality horror titles. I have to turn to my PS2 every couple weeks being a Survival Horror enthusiast. You can give Silent Hill: Homecoming a shot. Opinions are pretty mixed. I enjoyed it, plenty didn't. Siren: Blood Curse is a definite purchase. Condemned 2 can be scary at points, but feels more like a dimly lit brawler for the most part. Alone in the Dark is no slouch in the survival department, but you would have to be pretty weak to find it scary in any way. Dead Space is a quality game, but lacking in both the survival, and horror departments. It's nothing more then sci-fi action from my point of view. Resident Evil 5 is terrible in just about every way, and provides absolutely 0 scares, or even chills. It's got nothing. I'd say your better off just picking some up on the PS2 you may have missed....or revisiting favorites.

I am actually quite interested in that one, despite the reviews. Ambiance is key in a game like that, and from the videos I have seen, that game seems to ooze the Saw atmosphere from the seams.

Deadspace!!! Walking around in the dark hallways in the game makes you feel something is gonna pop out at any second, plus that regenerator just keeps on coming.

I'd vote Dead Space, especially if you have surround sound. If it wasn't for surround sound, I don't think the game would be nearly as creepy as I found it to be. Being able to hear the subtle sounds coming from every corner of the room really amped up the atmosphere.

Absolutely nothing in this gen. Absolutely nothing. I would have said Dead Space, but honestly, it's hard to be scared when you're handed a rock-cutting plasma rifle with enough ammo to fill a swimming pool of space-zombies.

I was pretty creeped out by Dead Space, I'm not sure how so many people played that game and didn't find it scary. I'm a huge horror enthusiast and honestly, that game freaked me out. Plus it's a LOT of fun with some really great gameplay mechanics. Moving in zero-g is absolutely mind-bending, and some of the powers you get to use are really cool.

Dead Space and Condmned 2 are both pretty good horror games and the best part is you could get them around $20 a piece.

it ticks me off when people write "erm" when they say "umm". erm... yeah ill have erm... two cheeseburgers and erm... a large shake and erm... a happy meal for the kids. back to the main topic. dead space is the most apparent popular one. im sure there is some gem hidden under bad advertising thats really good but no one knows about it. there always is.

Try Silent Hill: Homecoming or Siren: Bloodcurse. Realy scary but awesome games.

Silent Hill: Homecoming has a better story but I gotta say that I found Siren a bit more scarier. Both are awesome and I never had any regrets of buying them. Both gave me a real wonderful experience, probably the best so far on the ps3. You will rly like this game if you are a fan of the survival horror genre, I can tell you that ;-)

Good luck with your pick.

Btw, I wouldn't think of Dead Space as a survival horror game. It rly istn that scary, especially not when you got past the first 3 or 4 chapters...

I highly recommend you getting either Silent Hill or Siren.

The PS3 Port of F.E.A.R. is the scariest. Those framerates and muddy textures! Egad!

Deadspace. Some people don't think it's scary (I got a fair share of chills) but it's without a doubt an outstanding game. Also, Resident Evil 5 is great. However, it is not a horror game at all. RE5 is more of an action/adventure than survival/ horror.

You might be able to call Bioshock a horror game in a way - I mean what happened to Rapture is rather disturbing in my opinion.

Well the scariest game I've ever played sadly is for PSOne. It's the original Clock Tower. Even though the grapihics sucked then even for back then, the storyline will keep you guessing till the end. Mind you I would always freak out when the Scissorman would randomly pop out to kill me. Felt like being in a Friday the 13th film. A remake of the original with better graphics, gameplay and story twist would be awesome.

Siren blood curse is the scariest game on the ps3
