When trying to play online games sometimes it lets me in and sometimes it doesnt! Im really hacked off!

I get:

ERROR OCCURED WHILE SIGNING IN

and then when (eventually) I get in I get

'YOU HAVE BEEN SIGNED OUT OF THE PLAYSTATION NETWORK.

I have spent in the last few days 5 hours all in all on the phone between Sony and Bt (who provide my internet)

I am connected to a router via the ethernet cable from the PS3.

BT have done a DMZ and they said from their point of view everything is fine, they have opened all the ports using the port numbers sony have given me and done DMZ.

Sony are saying as the playstation will go onto the playstation web broswer its not the console.

IM SO FED UP!  IM GETTING NOWHERE!

Just curious, have you tried connecting your PS3 directly to the cable modem? You need to take the router out of the picture here at some point. Not sure what ISP you have but you might have to call them so they can register the PS3's MAC address for it to get online with a direct connect like that.

reset your router, it has to be the router, or its just cheap crap, that why he said connect to modem to see if there are no problems that way. then you will know for sure your router is crap

Are you using wifi?

When I use wifi, I find I cut out of service very frequently with the same error message.

I've alleviated the problem by using a wired connection. If I want to just chill online, I'll use wifi and won't run the cable (which goes thru two rooms!) to my PS3. If I need to download an update, something from the store, or play online, then I have to use the wired connection.

I'm considering upgrading my SIX! year old router soon so perhaps I'll get increased signal strength that way.
