Wait, Eurogamer gave this 9 and MGS4 an 8!! Unbelievable.kkee
Not really. Siren is more of my kinda game than MGS. Maybe it's the same for the reviewer.
Ok, sorry, but these guys are nuts. I have the first 3 episodes and while I agree that the game has one heck of a scary atmosphere, the graphics are stuck between generations, looking like a slightly improved Silent Hill 4. In fact, if it didn't have an extremely prominent noise filter and wasn't generally so dark, you could spot the muddy textures very easily.
Also, if they're talking about 40 minutes of gameplay on the later 2 episodes, that length must come from numerous trial and error attempts. Even on the first try it didn't take me more than 25-30 minutes each, making it not as good a value as they state it to be. Once you know what to do, you can easily cut play-time by 60%.

You can pretty much do that in any game.
Also, I think the visuals are great. I spot a lot of bad environment textures in MGS4 and other big games, yet they didn't get knocked down because of it.
Well, the game is completely linear, so it's not really a matter of taking your time to smell the roses, but you dying because you didn't do the thing the game wanted you to do in the correct order. Don't get me wrong, the game uses that sort of pressure on you to create a feeling of angst and that's awesome, but the trial and error nature of the gameplay becomes needlessly frustrating. You can pretty much do that in any game.

Of course, it's going to be linear. It's survival horror.
Well, you're gonna see for yourself just how linear it is.Of course, it's going to be linear. It's survival horror.

I've played both previous Siren's. I know exactly how linear it is.
does the japanese ones have all the episodes in the one game or not? cuz if it does i might get it from playasia but if it doesnt ill just download it from the psn.njean777
Yes, it does. Don't order the Japan region version, though. Order the Asia region version, because it has english voices and subtitles.
Here's what you want:

Never liked the Siren games so I don't think I will buy this game. I find them to frustrating.JLF1
They are definitely frustrating. Gotta have patience. I like the challenge, though.

I dont like the siren series that much either, but this one seems like a improvement, so i purchased it :)
I'm very shocked that eurogamer gave a ps3 exclusive that kind of score lol. Either it is that good or they thought it was a 360 exclusive. After comparing scores of various sites I've learned to totally ignore their scores now. So really I don't know what to make of this score. Like someone else said they gave MGS4 a 8 and their partly the reason lemmings are throwing gamerankings around now lol and ignoring Gamespots review. But I guess we'll see.
P.S. when does this come out?
will we see a demo for this game?Sk8ter_213
A demo was released at the Japanese store few months ago, no word on a US/EU one.
Is this game making it's way to North America?jtdawg23
Yes, but only as episodic downloads through the Playstation store. No retail release.
I"m downloading the demo now. I"mma give it a try and see how it plays.j-bldes
Go stealth until you get a weapon. Also, before you head up the mine shaft or whatever it is. It's right after a cutscene with the shibito (zombies) in front of you. Yeah, when you get to that point, run backwards across the bridge and sneak up behind the zombie and get his gun. Then you'll be prepared for what's to come. If you play the demo wrong, you probably won't have fun. That's how it was for me the first time with a Siren game.
I played the original PS2 Siren and I'm a little sceptical since it's a American crew this time around, regardless I'm definitely going to try it out.
I hold Siren in high regards, not as much as my all time favorite Silent Hill 2 and 3, but pretty close.
Since lemmings are now praising Eurogamer's as the one true source for review scores, does this mean ps3 finally has a AAAE? :lol:mbrockway
