Just to show you guys that the launch of the PS3 was not just a success in the UK, i leave you with the numbers in my country, Portugal. It's definitely a much smaller market but the numbers speak for themselves.

90% of the PS3s available at launch were sold in the last four days. Just for comparison, the PS3 sold six times more than the PS2 at launch.

Here's the link for those that understand Portuguese.:)

Man I've seen a hundred of these threads and every time it seems pointless. Wait til mid-April before you can look back on March with glee. Its crazy how you have 1 side boasting how the Ps3 sold so well at launch with facts and pictures that are very mis-guided. And then on the other side you have wii/PC/360 fanboys saying it sold awful and giving similar facts and pics of the failure which are also misguided. I dont think we will know til End of April. In my eyes I never thought I'd see every shop in my area having tens of systems left. Though, Clap my hands at Sony for the huge amount delivered to Europe. Lets wait and see...

Yep, they are indeed selling well, but I'm sure the big boom will be from 1st April to 7th April... that's when people get their monthly paychecks here in PT, besides being easter hollidays :P Motorstorm rocks :D but I want NBA 2k7 also :)

So you rather believe a fanboy than legitimate sites that have reported the European launch success. And btw, you haven't seen hundreds of these threads, this one is only about Portugal...

The fact is...if someone hates the PS3, you arent gonna win them over by showing them sales figures.

That's not my purpose with this. I gave up on trying to convince haters some time ago.

If they hate a piece of hardware they have issues. You may dislike a hardware but hate?

Not sure where these figures come from in the UK tbh, London maybe? I got my PS3 friday and the shops in my area are struggling to sell their pre-ordered stock let alone their surplus. :(

Actually, he is more than right (the TC). The UK it's the least European country.

The UK doesn't use the Euro currency.

The UK it's an island and it's not directly connected to Europe (this may sound a bit silly but the truth is it creates a big cultural barrier/impact).

The cultural barrier between UK and the other countrys is bigger than per example : Portugal and France. How come you ask ? Just to let you know, we drive on the same side of the road.

The UK is a Monarchy while all the other countrys in Europe are a Democracy.

Even the PS3 price is different in the UK than the rest of Europe.

You Sir, fail at giving a valid and veredict argument/opinion, therefore you fail.

P.S. Sorry about any grammatical error.

This has been more than discussed. The reason you and I still see PS3 at stores is because there was a high supply. We can't compare PS3's to 360 and Wii's launch. There was way more PS3s available so it's only natural that we can still find them everywhere. As for the pre-order stock not sold, have you considered that some people might be waiting to get their paychecks, this is an expensive system afterall.

Yes, good sales for Portugal indeed. But I remember Portugal receiving about 80, yes that's right, eighty PS2 consoles on launch day, which also got a midnight release, so there must have something wrong with the article, or they are refering the second launch Sony did because there weren't available a third of all the consoles most countries were expecting to get at that time.

Well two of the three game shops I (shouldn't go in so often) said allocation was aroudn the same as for the Wii and they didn't sell their pre-order allocation and still had surplus as of yesterday. One of the managers said that interest was low. Could just be those three shops in my area...was just saying.

Apologies for mentioning something that's old. I haven't been in these forums b4 as I didn't have a PS3 until the weekend therefore no reasonable excuse to be here.

Are you sure about that 80 PS2s?! Anyway, it's obvious the PS3 didn't sell six times 80 consoles. I'm not sure about how many we got but i think it was 20 000, i need to confirm this.

There's no need to apologise. Like you said those UK figures are probably from London, small towns have less demand for a product like the PS3. The same thing happens where i live, i live in an island so...

Thanks for sharing the good news. The PS3 definitely needs some momentum in Europe, so hopefully more stories such as this continue to come out to build confidence in the system.

Yes, it got the midnight release at Colombo shopping but the media wasn't aware or didn't care so it didn't have that much attention. Also the stores weren't open until 00:30 so you had to get in before the closing time and wait inside for the launch. I remember that same gameover site made an article about it.

There are other countries who has a monarchy.... Denmark has a constitutional monarchy.... But I don't know much about the sales in Denmark (I just think the price is too high, when I still can buy good games for my PS2 :P)...
