Do European Ps3s have a completely different online marketplace in terms of the releases, or is it just like the U.S?

European PSN (playstation network) store has different things than the american and japanese stores, but the PS3 system is the same, if you want to see the difference for yourself try creating an account for europe and one from japan/asia or whatever from your system. it doesnt matter the nationality of the system, the account does

create a new user, that way you just switch users and the acount stays for your user so you dont have to memorize passwords and logins

Yes, the difference is this: Japan and US get all the great stuff, and Europe gets F'ed.

The PAL PS3 is not the same as the US/*** models.  For 1 it is missing the PS2s emotion engine.

sorry, i meant for PS3 games the nationality of your console doesnt matter its universal, but PS and PS2 games are region limited like they were for the original consoles. As well as the movies in DVD/BD. The PSN is different for each region but if you have an account for each there's no problem and you can see the different stores.
