Im going to pick it up, everyone says GOW in a derogatory manner, but GOW was a good game, as far as the demo goes it has stunning graphics for a multiplat, the riding section was kinda meh though.
but the demo doesnt show the climbing, puzzles, magic etc it just shows basic combat
its a bad GOW ripoff. I will get it when it drops to 39.99hiryu3
I don't know about that, Dante's Inferno happens to be a bad GoW rip-off. This game is actually colorful and nice looking for one, and more enticing to play for another if gameplay vids are anything to go by.
Admittedly, it would be nice for it to have a demo on the ps3 like with Dante's Inferno.
It is a day one for me. I'll be picking up the limited edition tomorrow. Yes, it has a gameplay formulas that we have seen before, but it implements them well. The production value is through the roof, it plays great and it has a 20 hour epic tale. In essence, who cares if it uses gameplay that we have seen before as long as the game itself is good? You don't stop playing first person shooters because they are all in first person and use guns do you? Hey, they are all 'clones', lol.
The demo wasn't that hot. I didn't like that it was so much "tutorial" and not enough just playing the level. I also wasn't a fan of the pre-determined "chase scene" where you ride a horse but the outcome of that scene seems pre-determined.. But at the very least it showed it's gameplay is very much a God of War close. I decided in the end that GOW clone gameplay + Castlevania + 20 hours story + great graphics = worth keeping my pre-order of the limited edition, even if the game isn't all that I wanted it to be.2Chalupas
Who knows, the full game may surprise you? I know I am not about to let a demo of a tutorial sour my expectations of what is a 20 hour game.
I actually wish the buttom mappings were 1:1 with God of War. I was actually annoyed at having to hold down L2 both to block, and then also having to hold it down to dodge with the left stick. I wonder why they didn't use right stick to dodge. I don't remember the right stick being anything at all in the Castlevania demo. Cameria is fixed, right? So....

Yeah, I said I'm still getting it and actually the limited edition as well, so demo didn't exactlly change my mind that drastically. Maybe ti tempered by expectations a little though.
ehhh im tired of hearing about games ripping off other games. i was playing the enslaved and when you had to scale the ship i could have sworn i was playing uncharted. but its not a bad thing to use a good game formula. better then them trying to do something completly new and failing
I friggin loved God of War, this game is a no brainer. The reviews it has got so far point out that this is a very solid game. Metacritic has it rated at 84 for PS3, that's damn good I would have to say. Just think for yourself knowing what you know about the game, don't let others decide for you in one way or another.

LOL, right. While shooters of course vary in quality, they do indeed use the same basic gameplay mechanics. All I was illustrating is that nobody complains about shooters having the same basic gameplay and continue to buy them one after another. However, if a game in another genre (the action genre in particular) even remotely has similar gameplay mechanics as another game in the genre, then it gets hammered.
Gamefly just shipped it to me today. Can't wait to play it. Maybe it is a God of War clone, but I don't consider that a bad thing necessarily, as I'm a huge GoW fan. Besides, there are very few games that don't copy off other games in some manner. That's just how it goes.

Well said bro. Well said. FPS's are the most overrated genre in gaming

Tell me how Quake and Modern Warfare are even remotely similar.[QUOTE="ironcreed"][QUOTE="kong_sevixnine"] I'm sure you have played only 2 shooterskong_sevixnine

Tell me how Quake and Modern Warfare are even remotely similar.I am talking about the same basic gameplay of holding a gun and shooting in first person. Of course all shooters play differently and have evolved in that regard, but the basic gameplay mechanic is the same. Fact is, all shooters are derivative of Doom and Wolfenstein and that is a fact. All I am trying to point out is that I find it humorous that gamers gobble up shooter after shooter when they are all so similar (although of varying degrees of quality), yet they never get called out for being derivative like games in other genres do.

The difference between the genres are that in all FPS you shoot, and people don't really care if that's all you can do- action games have the potential to be very diverse. Please Log In to post.
