I was quite interested to see a game liek this when it debuted at E3 last year, however with the recent updates it seems to be quite intensive.  I mean the stand and everything seems a bit of a clunky setup.

The thing I want to know now is, woulod it not be simple to cheat.  Now of course I woldn't, bt if you are playing a person in an online tournament, who's to say that they aren't just rifeling through their deck and picking the cards they want.

so if you figure it out they are then buy all means do it your self. example is when every time he needs life and it happens that every time he does the health card is there. you can notice these things. then you just say good bye cheater and tell your friends to stay away. then he will relize cheating is not good because he will not have anyone to play.

I will be interested to see what kind of systmes, if any, they have in place.  But at the same time, responding to Garryth, if you have a really luck day, and things go right, I know a bunch of people would just as soon call you a cheater out of frustration.

Depending on the rules and mechanics of gameplay, and the sensitivity of the Eye, it might be harder to cheat than you think.  Imagine all cards in play for a round need be visible to the Eye, face down.  Cards could be identifiable to the human eye on the face side and identifiable to the Eye on both face and back side.  This way the Eye can "lock" currently played cards.  If one is switched during a round it can tell and mark it as unplayable.

better yet maybe they go back to the board or in the corner of the screan you can see the deck and they way you can play it is they flip the top card. no way of cheating that way.

Probably the deck must be visible. so if you get your hands in the deck to cheat the other guy will see.

I didn't read up on this game, and as I soon as I saw the topic, this ^^^ was the first thing that came to my mind through common sense.

If they have it setup where the deck sits in such a spot that the other player can see it then there is little threat of tmapering with the deck after it has been shuffled assuming the person actually shuffled it. Honestly though after hearing you have to register the deck I think it would be fairly simple to have the game draw your cards. The only problem with this solution although it would work is that you would be digging through your deck trying to find the correct card all the time. Even then if you have two of the same card and they have some sort of seperate serial number or something (dont know if they do but they might who knows) then you would have to go even further and make sure you grab the correct specific fireball card or whatever.

Im sure they will find a way to prevent cheating there are many simple solutions out their besides mine.

Yeah that seems more logical to me. I'm pretty sure they took that matter into consideration. The cards are loaded with data, so why would it be only on 1 side? In order to start the game, your cards have to be in a certain place. If you move or shuffle through the cards to cheat, the other player automaticly wins. Cause you would have to move them out of it's spot obviously. I wonder what kind of signal the thing gives out to make the cards deflect it.

From the videos I've seen of Augmented Reality it's marketed as something for companies to buy and implement in their own specific ways.  This game actually looks like a version of it.

hehehe there is no signal, the camera sees the shapes on the cards and uses basic trianomitry to determine their distance, angle and such. Other data is also represented in those shapes. Its very simple stuff. Take a close look at the cards, youll see dark squarish shapes which is the data, youll also notice other shapes around the edges or in the corners for location points. Becuase the game knows the size of the cards and the playing field, it can match the data in 3d. This allows it to simply put the 3d image on the position of the card and it looks like you're holding it. You can also do basic interaction and such as well.

you probably use the eyetoy or webcam to see what the other player doing... you can make agreement to face your webcam on his/her card deck so that way you can see he/she is not cheating and are picking up the right card.
