Whos planning on getting F1 at launch? At one point I set my heart on it but then I found out Gran Turismo will be free to download I dont see the need to own 2 racing games. Anyone else had the same influence?

The GT game you are speaking off is more of a demo. 1 track, 2 racing modes and a few cars.

Never heard of this before, it wouldn't make any sense, not to mention a "full title" GT would be around 20gb or more to download.

Ok. F1 is a very different game than GT:HD. If you're a F1 fan and you like online with your racing games then F1 is a great game.

"Gran Turismo HD" (free): It's more of a proof of concept than a full game, but "Gran Turismo" still offers the series' meticulous simulation-style racing and signature realistic graphics. And the price is right. apparently, after each completed race you unlock a new car.

It's 1 track, 10 cars, 2 racing modes.

he is absolutely correct, GTHD is a proof of concept game w/ 10 normal cars and 10 "tuned cars" of the previous unocked ones 1 track that can be unlocked to go in reverse and 2 modes (time trial and drift). F1 is a full game and one of the best racing games at the moment in my opinion... The sense of speed is mind boggling, the graphics and sound are almost exact to its real life counter part and the AI are sons of b!@#$'s

He hit the proverbial nail on the head.  I agree most certainly.  And yeah, GTHD isn't a full game, but it is free.

The full game now goes under the name GT5 and won't be available until Q1 2008 I believe at the current moment. GT:HD is nothing more than a demo with one track and 20 unlockable cars if you want to call it that (10 regular and 10 of the same tuned). There is one track that you can play forward and reverse after you beat it will all 10 cars. Also, after you beat the designated time for each car you will receive drift mode for that same track. Nothing all that exciting.

F1 is a great game and you don't even have to be a "die-hard" for the series to like it and find it fun. It sure helps when doing a career though as the racing can get pretty intense up front.

yeah I've heard that it might be even later in 2008...

Polyphony plans to make this game the most insane racing simulation ever created, with online,  more cars, more tracks, etc. With the time they have, and with the PS3's power, this will be one of the greatest games... I really hope it turns out to be what's it's planned to be...

What amazed me the most was the new drift physics even in GT:HD. Those just simply weren't there in GT4 for whatever reason. There was no power sliding around turns, you either slowed down enough to take the turn normally or you were gone baby lol
