It's a nuclear wasteland, so yeah it's kind of a downer. I personally find the game engrossing and couldn't be happier with dropping 65 bucks on it. it looks great, it's fun as hell to play and it has a great story. It has great voice acting too and theres tons to do in the game. Using VATS close up with the combat shotgun is very awesome. copperheadfang
You lost credibility at great voice actors... xD

Liam Neeson aint half bad IMO
I've played about 20hrs so far. Not too many bugs to report, the game froze on me twice and I had to turn off message notifications, no big deal. The game is awesome, graphics are pretty good, not the best I've seen but still pretty good, especially considering the amount of story in the game there is to uncover. Learning about the world of Fallout 3 is a blast and nearly every mission I've done so far had numerous ways of completeing it based on what skills you have.
There are plenty of weapons and armor to choose from, mostly found throughout the game, and repairing them is interesting, using parts from other gears. 3rd and 1st person views so that covers both of those audiences. The music is pretty decent and there are broadcast stations you can tune into. The voice acting isn't that great but better than in Oblivion. Load times are not frequent and usually only when you enter new areas. There's just too much content to really list. But it's still a great game and not nearly as bad as people make it out to be. There's alot of exaggeration based on forum posts I've read and the gameplay I've personally experienced. If you've been looking forward to this game then don't pass it up.
The overall voice acting sucks... just like in Oblivion its laughable.Ren_eko
Who asked you to come complain about the game?
If voice acting is the only "flaw" then the game is still amazing, the VATS system makes it's a worthwhile experience on it's own.
From what I've seen so far, Fall Out is also the longest game right now for Ps3 as well; even if you play through it completely once, you can still go back and play it differently. I'm doing straight edge right now, but I can go back and lie to everyone, pick pocket NPCs' break into their house.
BLOW UP MEGATON.

Im giving my honest opinion instead of blindly praising the game, so TC's expectations don't get too high.
FO3 is a solid 7.5 in my book its a good game but not that good, the voice acting and story are bad but on the other hand the combat system is fun , the overall grayish look of the game turn me off(but this is more about taste).
If you only have a Ps3 you should know the game has minor glitches(i havent seen one yet but a lot of people say there are) but it is a good buy.
If you own a 360 forget this game and buy Fable 2.
Oh and about being the longest game*looks at Disgaea 3*.....nah its not.

Reread the first post. He said he already saw the bashing. He wants to hear from the people who really like the game, the reasons why they really like it.
The story itself may have loopholes; but it still captivating enough to keep you playing; the voice acting? The voice acting?! Please....
Minor glitches, wait you just said you haven't noticed them, so why bring it up? Hearsay? It's just like I said in my post about the game, if no one had opened their ignorant mouths and said the PS3 version was inferior, then no one would have gotten emo about the graphics and "glitches" which is anti aliasing problems and that's it. 90% of the people reading these forums, don't even know what Anti Aliasing is....
Obviously he has a Ps3, so he's not going to get Fable 2 for it.
Disgaea has an ENDLESS BATTLE system. The story ends; the fighting can continue.
I mentioned the bugs because they do exist(even though the 2 major ones are "easily" avoidable).
Voice acting can be very good in immersing you in a game if done correctly(MGS4) but it can be so awkward at times it makes you wish the game was text-based(In FO3 this happens quite a lot) maybe some people dont care so much about va as i do idk.
I know what anti-aliasing is. =)
Overall this game is a good buy like i said(i bought it) but if you have a 360 Fable might be more up your alley since you mentioned you dont like too gray atmospheres.

Would you shut up already , we got the msg you think oblivion and fallout 3 sucks good for you now go whine to somewhere else.
Don't worry about picking up fallout 3 I've played it. It's huge, gfx are good the voice acting is decent enough and vats is amazing.

You should have read everything i said....*sigh*
No trophys
Game freezes if any of your friends sign on
Blurry textures.
Why buy something a developer should no love for, for your system.
Just like gamestop, 90% of their empoloyees have steered many potenital ps3 buyers away. hurting the ps3 in sales, in developers not wanting to program for it.
But ps3 owners will still give them their money and even hand over their money before games even comes out. Like you have to pre order in this day and age????
You only need one reason to buy it.
VATS.
...if you don't know what that is, then go and buy it; and get the combat shotgun and go into VATS during a fight....ooh the bloody glory.

I pity the fool that don't know VATS! lol. Mr T FTMFW.
Anyway, if you like anything Bethesda has done in the recent past (Morrowind, Pirates of the Carribean, Oblivion), this is a must buy. It's probably the best game I've played by them yet. It's got a few glitches in it, but Bethesda is looking into them and will more than likely patch them all. None are game-breaking as far as I've seen.
