I heard about the bugs plaiging fallout 3, but since so many posters on these forums have stated that they have all been fixed, I decided to go out and buy the game. Needless to say I am very dissapointed as there have been 3 game crashing bugs before I even finish the GOAT exam.... The first two, when going from age 1 to 10... then from 10 to 16, when the screen goes white to symbolise the time change, the game just automatically exited to my xmb.... I had to then try it a couple more times and save right before these situations and eventually I was able to get by them. It is a good thing I did not have very much backtracking to do or I would have really been pissed... I hope this is less common once I get out into the real "meat" of the game. Then the third bug I encountered was durring the GOAT exam, me and my brother both experianced it.... When I sit in a desk and the teacher makes a crack about keeping your eyes on your own exam, rather than that kid snickering and making a remark, the projector just makes some clicking noise and I never get a chance to write the test.... I sat at the desk for a good 5 minutes waiting for something to happen. I reloaded that part and things worked out well the second time, but I am getting tired of always having to reload a segment to get around a glitch and I'm not even an hour into the game.... Please tell me that there is either another patch in the works, or that the bugs are much less frequent later on in the game...
I only experienced one bug, right when I got out of the cave I encontered some random people, I used the V.A.T.S. system to shoot them in the head, but it didn't want to select anything. It let me move around and all, didn't let me go back out of the V.A.T.S. system, and I could hear the Pipboy 3000 radio still working, I waited 10 minutes, still didn't want to get out, so I had to quit the game. So I loaded the game again and continued...It'll be real annoying if I encounter this problem again, especially if I have to do the same thing over again...well anyone encountered this problem?
I'm in the same boat as you. My game doesn't allow me to take the GOAT unless I make a save during the test when nothing is happening then loading it up and it should work. My game freezes all the time when I go to play it too and they haven't announced a new patch other than the one they just released, but it really didn't address the big issues. I'm just putting it on the back shelf while I play other games in hopes that they do patch it eventually.
