I was thinking about getting the Game of the Year version of Fallout 3 on PS3 and I was wondering how well the game performs. Does it run about as well as Skyrim on the PS3?

I didn't own the Game of the Year edition, but I heard that version offered a lot more technical issues than the original did. With the introduction of the DLC, FallOut 3 turned into one massive laggy game. Don't get me wrong. the game was GREAT, but it had/has a lot of issues. Since FallOut: New Vegas came out, the focus isn't on 3 anymore. Have you considered buying FallOut: New Vegas?
I only beat the normal version and, though playable most of the times, by the end of it it stutered ALOT. Framerate was really sh1tty and I normally dont notice framerate dips but this, wow just unexcusable. I never thought Bethesda could ever release such a broken product ever again... guess I was wrong. They did the same with Skyrim. Bunch of kunts
Fvck bethesda! They'll never see anymore of my money ever again
Yea the patches have helped and it's not nearly as bad as it used to be but still more buggy than any game should be. Still managed to rack up over 100 hours on it though
This. Its still a great game. There are ways to keep the lag and stuff low.Yea the patches have helped and it's not nearly as bad as it used to be but still more buggy than any game should be. Still managed to rack up over 100 hours on it though

[QUOTE="PhazonBlazer"]Much safer bet. Plus you get the benefit of better graphics and reduced load times.I guess I'll just get it on PC.

You had the option of PC and you still wanted the PS3 version? That's just foolish. Bethesda games are pure garbage on consoles.
GARBAGE.

Yeah, I just prefer gaming on my PS3.
GOTY edition for the most part runs fine. I encountered perhaps half a dozen crashes in total... and that was on a launch PHAT. No idea if it runs better on a Slim. The only real problem with the PS3 version is the expansion Operation Anchorage. It's framerate during intense battles near the end drops to almost a stand-still. If you could play it on PC I'd usually recommend it but you, like myself, prefer to do your gaming on a console so I'd say go for it ;)
If you have a system that will run it, even with some of the settings turned down, that's definitely the preferable option. Same with Skyrim. The technical issues those games suffer from, even after being patched, is truly inexcusable, nearly to the point I'm amazed there wasn't a class action lawsuit filed against Bethesda.I guess I'll just get it on PC.

Skyrim is beautiful on PC, not only does it look better if you can run it, it is pretty close to being 100% bug free. I have had not a single issue with it in 90 hours of play. Fallout 3 is pretty close too when patched with the official one and unofficial one.
I've never had any problem with lagging or long load times. It should be fine on PS3.
If you have a PC that can run it fine though definitely buy it on PC.

Yeah you can tell the difference in load times between the two versions, believe me PS3 is slow.

Plus the mods do WONDERS to improve the game. Unofficial patches, new weapons, a new way to play (with FOOK or Wanderer's Edition), iron sights, etc.
Its a fantastic game on its own on consoles, but the PC version does run smooth as butter.
