First off, throw your Golden rusted axe into the trash can and only pay attention to the ACTUAL games that can be compared, fallout 3 vs. dead space
If you prefer survival horror with resident evil 4 gameplay, short single player (around 8 hours) but tons of bonus features and downloadable content, get dead space
If you prefer an RPG-like FPS that is at least 30 hours long with quests that branch off from the main storyline, get Fallout 3
Imo, fallout all the way. Dead space is good but it just doesnt keep your attention the way i find that fallout does. Plus you can spend roughly 10 hours on Dead Space, whereas you get at least 30 from fallout. Just as someone said up there ^^.
I haven't played Golden Axe. I don't want to either. It looks bland to me. Nothing interesting.
Dead Space is linear and easy; it gets repetitive and the enemies just get boring. It's good to begin with and nds up just playing like Metroid with the train thing. It was a good game; but that's all it was. I feel it was overrated and the story was shallow. The characters weren't devoloped.
Fallout 3 is great if you like the complexity that comes with an RPG. You have to chose to be good/evil. It's a very wide game. But, it's animations are a little old fashioned, the dialogue can be corny and it gets frustrating at times. Beautiful game though. Fairly good story. HEAPS of replay value.
I made the mstake of renting Golden Axe just cuz I like hack n slash games. OMG this game is soo freaking boring!!! I brought it back a day early. Dead Space is AWESOME, it is a 8 to 10hr game but if your the kinda guy that likes replaying games, this is great. I haven't played Fallout but Fallout will be more bang for your buck as it is very long (from what I've heard)
I have Fallout 3 and I can tell you that it is an amazing game. It has a lot to offer and due to the amount of time that you can put into the game its value is more than the 60 dollars it cost.
In regards to Dead Space, I haven't played it, but heard a lot of good things about it and nothing negative. I will be picking up the game within the next couple of months myself.
But to answer your question, I believe that if you go with Fallout 3 you will not be dissapointed.
