So i was thinking about buying the new fallout new vegas ultimate edition, but i realised people are saying that fallout 3 is better so i wanted to buy the add ons for fallout 3 since i have the original. I then realised that the add ons are still 10 bucks a pop, but if i get the goty edition its 20 bucks for the whole deal. The main question is do my game saves from the oringal game travel to the goty edition or do i have to restart. If restarting is the case, i might as well go with fallout new vegas as it has a new world to explore.

Yes your original fallout 3 save games should travel with you to fallout 3 goty edition no problem. Though i've heard with some people it didn't worked in the manual it says it should. About New Vegas, story wise fallout 3 was more fun to me but vegas is deffinitly worth checking out

Alright thanks, i too heard that fallout 3 was better story wise and heard that new vegas had better game play and what not, but it seems to me too much of a struggle picking which one i should buy, i was leaning towards new vegas but i just had the urge to fully complete fallout 3 first.

Be careful of the GOTY edition of Fallout 3. Once you start playing the DLC portions, the game will start to crash frequently. This is what I learned from reading the Bethesda official forums. I'd be careful if I were you.

thanks for the info, i hate it when ive made lots of progress only to crash down on me, ill read more about the crashes. I will probably end up getting new vegas anyway just because i wont have to worry about the bugs and crashes as much and because i havent even explored the mojave wasteland yet.

I think they carry over (I'm trying to think back to when I started the GOTY edition). Fallout 3 is definitely better than New Vegas, not as buggy and a hell of lot more enjoyable.

For me its fallout 3 aswell. And its for simple reasons. I prefered the story more, I liked the more radiated landscape and there were more enemies to fight against in fallout 3 than new vegas. New vegas is still a great game. Just fallout 3 is better in my opinion.

Just a warning, i have both and I would say New Vegas becomes equally as buggy and laggy as Fallout 3 once you have all the DLC installed with the main game.
