I cant shake this feeling but playing fallout3 is depressing, dont get me wrong, its a great game but when I play it, I get this feeling that i dont get with other games, other games like KZ2, GTA I feel nothing, only other game I have feelings when playing is MGS4 but that was a good happy/epic feeling.
Anyone else feel depressed when playing fallout?

The atmosphere got to me when i first played the game...listening to galaxy news radio the whole time can cheer it up a little though...both Fallout 3 and Oblivion are amazingly ambiant games...whether the desolate capital wasteland or the magical land of cyrodiil...

Nope, but I know what you mean. Sometimes when I was going around, I had a weird lonely feeling that this could actually happen sometime in the future. Who knows?

I don't need to list examples. I'm not trying to convince anyone to agree with me. Plus, arguing about preferences would be pointless.

So you'll make the statement but then refuse to do anything more ever?

I'm very happy to know I'll never have to see you in a Fallout thread again

Thank you

Does arguing about Fallout 3 on the internet with a random person make your life more meaningful?

Fallout 3 takes place in a destroyed world where everyone is stuggling to survive while the Enclave sits in total harmony. Its supposed to be depressing.

Exactly. It means they created such an immersive environment that you feel what the people feel in the game. That is the mark of a great game.

I felt depress also, I had to stop playing the game for a couple of minutes to get out of an "immerse" state. I was actually in fear of some of those creatures in the game, well for the begining anyway.

It's a very depressing game, at first.
I remember doing the Big Town quest where I had to go save Red. It took me a while and it was pretty difficult, but I saved the two guys. Then the Super Mutans raided and everyone at Big Town died; that made me sad. :(
I know exactly how you feel, but some people like the game because of this. The environment made me stop playing the game. It was so lonely and quiet. And out of nowhere, bandits and creatures would attack me. And I hated the mission that required me to go into the market with a bunch of bandits hanging out inside and find samples of food for that ladys journal. It was fun, but it wasnt a situation I wanted to be in.

I prefer Oblivion. Meeting the drug dealer behind the house at night to buy some Skooma. Dropping the moose head on the guy when he sits in his reading chair. Fallout 3 makes you feel like its just you against the world. Oblivion made you feel part of something.

Going through sewers and fighting goblins and giant rats or crabs, getting shot at by bandits hiding in an abandoned school, retrieving food in a supermarket while staying out of sight, and traveling a post-apocalypic place full of creatures isnt my thing.

Depressing? Well, not to me.

I found MGS4 to be more sad than Fallout 3 over all.

Like all the Fallout games it ceases to be depressing when you remember that the game is a satire of 1950's America. Once you do the bleak nightmare landscape you're walking across becomes easier to take and often quite amusing.

There were some parts of the game that were depressing to me too, but when I got deep enough into the game where I discovered that I could help change things, it stopped being depressing.

Maybe, ;) I don't think it is depressing, I really enjoyed it. Some levels are really long and take alot of exploring, which can maybe get boring after a while. But Fallout 3 rules, and always will.

I realized that as well, but even then. when your traveling the wastes by yourself you can't help but feel for the NPC's. it's an amazing game - one of my all time favorites - but even have a really hard time playing the evil guy in the waste's.
