Sounds almost like it's lagging then or caching in the ram like on a computer that doesn't have enough ram :XPsychobob22It sounds like a read error.. and since he already got a replacement copy it could be his Bluray drive thats going :|
I have a 60gb so maybe it is the game I hope so. When you play the game is it like someone's pausing it every 10m or so seconds?Hey...I too am getting a similar lag...I have a relatively new 80gb ps3...I don't think it's a blu ray drive problem (but I'm not sure) because the HD light is what is blinking when my game goes into a lag.
is everyone else out there playing smooth as butter?

oh god, i hope this isn't a big problem.
Have you tried disconnecting from the PSN? Sometimes that seems to cause issues. This better not be the whole GTA4 thing again.
Mind you, it does seem that the older models tend to get these issues. Hopefully my new 40gig model will be okay.
I get it, but not every 10 seconds. More like once or twice per hour. It's usually like a 1-2 second pause and then back to normal. I have a 60gb.
Other than that, this game runs suprisingly smooth. I haven't noticed any slowdown whatsoever. There is some screen tearing though, v-sync is cleary turned off. It's not that bad at all though, about on par with Uncharted.
HEY HEY!!!!!!!!!!! REINSTALL THE GAME!!!! FIRST DELETE THE ORIGINAL GAME DATA UTILITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT WILL WORK SonyMarksman70
Perhaps you should re-read the TC's original post...
I'm playing on a PS3 that was a 60 gig and is now a 250 gig and I haven't had any frame rate issues or any other issues yet.
The only bug - and i'm not sure if it is - I've encountered is finding my buddy dying after I saved a game @ a safe house. Not having any styrettes remaining, I reloaded my saved game and headed in a different direction to avoid the encounter. Doing this prevented my buddy from being killed off.
I believe you just described the age old trick commonly known as "loading from the last checkpoint", "reloading", or "resetting". Tends to erase everything that happened after.sportwarrior
Brilliant.
Far cry 2's been running fine for me so far, no massive slow downs or buzz killing visual glitches. Always sceptical about the consoles running the open world games. Oblivion was pretty shocking on ps3 for me..slow downs killed me especially in big fight scenes. Will also be interested to see how fallout 3 goes
I'm seeing how wide spread this problem is. So here the problem the game pauses every ten or so seconds for a second or two before it continues to play. I have already got a replacement disc from Gamestop I also deleted the install and game save a couple of times to make sure. At this point I don't know what going on I don't know if it's the game or my PS3, as a side note I have Dead Space and it works perfectly.2beers_in_hand
I don't think it's your ps3 -- I got Far cry 2 last night and had the same problem -- freezing during the clips and in gameplay. I went back to gamestop and the guy there said one of his friends had the same problem but he didn't have anymore copies of the game so what I did was unistall and delete everything having to do with the game and then reinstalled it and now its playing fine. Apparently (he thinks) it has something to do with the 2.50 update.
lots of people are saying that if you disconnect all USB devices, that works. maybe disconnect from the net as well and see.
it seems most people having problems are 60gig users
It's a problem affecting the pre-order editions of FC2. The only known fix is to disconnect your ethernet cable, or disable your PS3's LAN. Anything to stop it trying to connect to the internet.microwavedapple
Are we sure it is the pre-order versions? Do we have a source for that?

Are you in the USA or Europe?
Edit- I've checked on Google and apparently signing out of PSN fixes the problem.
The game doesnt have auto save does it?Darthmatt
No. You save at certain places, mainly safehouses. It also prompts you if you want to save after you have completed a mission.

No source, everything I stated is just from what I have heard from other people. Probably should of mentioned that earilier...

As soon as I disconnected my PS3 so it could go on line the freezing stopped, so thank you for the heads up as well as everyone else in this thread. I hope UBI gets to work fixing this I dont want to see another Vega incident.
