I'm so exicted that the new PS3 slim has come out because it has lowered the price of the fat PS3's. My question is would you recomend buying one of the old PS3's over one of the new Slim PS3's. The main reason I thought it would be better to get one of the old ones is that the bugs have been worked out of it and the slim version to me seem like it would have over heating issues. I was just wondering what everyone's opinion is on this. I mean getting a 160gb PS3 with Drakes Unfortune seems like a good deal to me at the new lower price.

I would suggest waiting a bit if you want the Slim and if you don't care then get the Fat one

I still prefer my original PS3, but if slim will not have any problems and wont overheat cuz it smaller an have less space inside, then i will buy it for sure, when my PS3 will break. :) But i don't think my PS3 will break, so no slim for me for a long long time. :)

Now Playing:

(PS3): Folklore, MGS4, Killzon 2. (PSP): Final Fantasy Dissidia DEMO. (Xbox 360): Nothing. (PC): Nothing.

I guess I am one of the only ones who does not care what my console looks like. Do they both play PS3 games, yes. Buy the cheaper one.

I'm getting a PS3 now and I'm going for the fat one. The feature to install OS on your PS3 disappears with the Slim. I also wonder if you will be able to switch hard drives on the Slim. It looks nice, but the old one suits my tastes better. So I'm getting one of the old models at the new nice price. :) Can't wait to play LBP, Uncharted etc. I would be looking forward to MGS4 also, but I've already played through it about a year ago. Orgasmic experience. ;) Anyway, I will soon be a PS3 owner. Yay!

Ps3 Slim is not an option for me because I just recently bought my original PS3 and when I saw the first picture of the PS3 Slim I puked they changed the logo completely but I don't want to bring it down I mean they're both the same price range so what is the difference

Oops, sorry. I'm not familiar with the codes used here. :) Any place where I can check them out? A page where all the codes are listed. Please link if there is one.

I don't think you can go wrong either way because the failer-rate for the PS3 over-all is pretty low.

I'm not too sure if they are not going to have any problem, but remember they are using cheaper parts which means less reliability. Remember the cell proccesor is a have 7 cores even if it's smaller it will heat just like a laptop computer with dual cores. I'd still remember hearing a lot of people saying the PS2 slim was less reliable than the original and that was a console with only one core so i won't be surprise hearing a lot of people saying that there consoles are dying or having a lot of problems and to make things even worse there was a report on 1UP.com saying the Sony is using parts made in Taiwan for the Slim model.

As of now is pretty low but now they are using parts that are a lot cheaper.

I want to thank everyone for their help and I ended up getting an 80gb PS3 fat version. I'm now the proud owner of a PS3 and have entered the current generation of video games.

PS3 slim is said to actually run cooler and quieter then the Fats. In that respect I would go with the slim. But I would NEVER trade my 60 in for any of the new SKU's. 60 gig ALL THE WAY!

Wow, honestly, someone should just make an official PS3 Slim thread, this is getting out of hand... anyways i don't know why people are making a big deal about the slim, i'm seeing alot of people saying they want to sell their fat version for a slim. Does it really matter? they both do the same thing. The only difference is size.

I'll stick with the fat one I got for one MAJOR reason..........

Upgrade of my hdd..... means more space then the slim one..........

The bigger the better!
