As we all know PSVITA will be out soon and unlike JP we dont get too many PSP games, but we get some and I am doing some hype for some of the last PSP releases we get.

Fate/Extra is a Japanese dungeon role-playing game for the PlayStation Portable, created by Type-Moon and Image Epoch and published by Marvelous Entertainment. The game takes place in a parallel universe to the visual novel Fate/stay night.

It's an alternate re-telling of the Seventh Holy Grail War with some old and new characters. It still takes place in Fuyuki city and the protagonist — whichever one you pick — will be attending the same school.

Gameplay

At the start of the game, the player may choose to play as either a male or female character, as well as selecting one of three Servants — Saber, Archer, or Caster, each with different strengths and weaknesses. Players spend one ingame "week" interacting with other characters, viewing scenes that advance the game's story, talking to their Servant in their room, and gathering clues to the identity of the enemy Servant. At the end of each day, they enter the Arena, a dungeon in which they can battle monsters to gain experience points and strengthen their Servant. Servants' stats are raised manually using skill points gained upon levelling up. At the end of each week is a decisive battle against the enemy Servant and Master, after which the player progresses to the next round of the tournament-****war.

The game's turn-based battle system is comparable to rock-paper-scissors -- "Attack" overpowers "Break", Break overpowers "Guard", and Guard overpowers Attack. During battle, both the player and the opponent line up six such moves at the beginning of each turn. Landing three successful hits allows use of an "extra attack" that cannot be countered. Most types of enemies have their own distinctive attack patterns, and memorizing these allows the player Servant to deal high amounts of damage while receiving minimal damage in return.

Characters Main article: List of Fate/stay night characters

In addition to characters from Fate/stay night, several new ones were introduced in the game, as well as characters from other Type-Moon works. While familiar characters from Fate/stay night and other Type-Moon works appear, they are not the same character as their original counterpart.

Masters Protagonist  The protagonist is student at Tsukumihara Academy, which exists in an artificial environment known as the Moon Cell. When the protagonist begins to observe strange events, the protagonist becomes one of 128 participants in Moon Cell's replication of the Holy Grail Wars through its Serial Phantasm (SE.RA.PH.) system. As a Master in the Holy Grail War, the protagonist is able to choose Saber, Archer, or Caster as a Servant, which will effect which opponents the player will encounter in the game. Players can select a either male or female protagonist in the game.

Well that is somewhat understandable. I like such settings though, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Persona etc and I am not exactly a youngling myself ;o) But in the end it is not the settings that makes a good gameplay.... or is it ?

it is not that setting in and of itself is a big deal it is usually that settings helps to determine story and characters ...in other words, things usually fall into archetypes and stereotypes. so that setting does not bother me so much as the characters and story that usually accompany it

Wiki says: "Aksys Games has confirmed they are localizing the game for North America" That should not be a problem for us EU citizenz as long as we can Import and I pretty sure it will be on PSN too, you just need an US account.

From what I've been hearing on forums, the story is good and it would most likely be the main reason you would get this. I'm a big fan of Fate/Stay Night so I'll be buying this when I have money : )
