RPG's because I find they are the genre that really gets you thinking and you really feel for each of the characters in a good storyline. Whereas, other genres don't really make you feel like that at all.
Anything with an engaging story, gameplay and graphics. So pretty much everything. I can't just narrow it down to one genre since I don't just generalize myself to one genre of gaming.
I'm pretty sure that Survival Horror is just a subgenre, and nowadays, a sub-sub genre. I don't think Survival Horror should be up there, and needs to be replaced with Platformer or Sports.chrisPperson
I don't think it needs to be replaced, its as much as a genre as any of the others I listed

That's not true at all. It's a clear subgenre of action-adventure games that are simply inspired by horror fiction and survival elements.[QUOTE="Venom_Raptor"][QUOTE="chrisPperson"]I'm pretty sure that Survival Horror is just a subgenre, and nowadays, a sub-sub genre. Well, okay then. I'll admit that when I'm playing a horror game, there is a totally different feel to it, but that's not because of it being a totally independent genre. That's simply due to the significantly different atmosphere the game provides.Action/Adventure is my favourite genre and I prefer games to be in Third Person view but I'll try any game just not FPS games which I avoid.
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance & Champions (of Norrath, Return to Arms) type games, what are those RPG's / Action Adventure.. man i wish a good one of those type games would come to the ps3...
Though truly action/adventure in many ways, has "sandbox" not become a genre upon itself?
dgrief
I'm not sure
I really don't stick to one genre. If it looks good to me, I'll buy it.
If I were to HAVE to choose, I would say RPG. But I tend to like WRPG's more than JRPG's just because JRPG''s tend to be too over-dramatic with slightly fakish over-the-top emotions. I also like survival horror alot but its more of a sub-genre. First person shooters can be quite good too, especially when they are innovative and unique. But many often all seem to be the same to me, so they aren't my favorite. And I'm not really fixated on action so action/adventure games are out of the competition for me. If I pick up a game that is action, it's usually unintentional, as many games incorporate action.
I think that sandbox styled or "free roam" games should be in that poll. I think they're popular enough to be considered a main genre IMO.
