You're joking aren't you? The NTSC 60 GB model includes the PS2 EE RISC chip, and it by a model that doesn't include this chip. The PAL model didn't include the EE chip but used software based emulation, the 40 GB that replaced it doesn't even include that.

Actually...I feel the exact OPPOSITE of how you feel.

60 GB version with the Emotion Engine built-in is by far the best SKU out.

I love having backwards compatibility even though I don't really play my PS2 games much anymore. I'm about to go start Final Fantasy VII all over again. I love the fact that I can play it on my PS3. I love that I don't need to buy memory cards.

Yes, I feel a little jipped that I dropped $599 on the console, but so what? What's done is done. I have had a wonderful time playing my PS3 and don't regret it one bit. I only hope that more people take the plunge and decide to buy a PS3. It really is a fantastic machine.

I couldn't agree any more. I think the 60GB US version is the best SKU on the market and I am very happy to be an early adopter. I played great games like GOW2 and other games that I didn't play on the PS2. I don't feel like you at all.

  1. How could you early adopt and not expect pricedrops in the future ?
  2. Your 60 gig is better than the 40 gig

I waited so I am all set ;)

The only PS3 owners that should probably feel ripped off is the people that got the 20 GB since you got quite a bit less with that versus the 60 and now other versions.

I imagine that anyone who dosn't care about Backwards Compatibility, is most likely a young gamer.

Not that I'm old mind you. Well, maybe to some. :)

But I have a game collection, and if I can use my ps1, ps2, and ps3 games on the same system ... that's a huge plus. The loss of it hurts. I will have to get my hands on the 60g skew, ASAP. Best deal imo.

Sony was losing an estimated $250-400 per console at launch. We got a great deal for the technology involved at the time. I bought mine last Christmas and love it. It's like buying anything technology. Buy it be happy about it and don't look back. Trust me this 19" LCD monitor I'm looking at cost me aprx. $800 when it first came out and that was a good deal.

i definately agree with that.. but they can just get a bigger HDD and i don't think they would need wifi .. if they bought a 20gb..
i think the only people who bought the 20gb bought it to sell for profit T_T

Yeah the 60 ps3 is the first Playstation I got.

Being able to play all the classic such as God of War is simply priceless.

The extra hd space doesn't hurt either.

lol, you're pissed because you got the best version of the machine? And considerably earlier than most other people? Its completely backwards compatible and has the most ports. And if you are feeling like you got screwed out of 200 bucks...NEWSFLASH: you are going to get screwed out of a lot more significant amount of money later in life...somehow....some way...trust me.

So wait you have the superior model (that euro did not even get) and feel ripped off because you early adopted the system and did not expect the console to drop in price... ever?

Really is this a joke thread?

Electronics dropping in price at a relatively fast pace and early adopters paying the most for them?

That's crazy.

Also, welcome to Earth.

Thats how things work. For example, when cell phones first came out, they were way expensive. Now those models are dirt cheep. Prices go down, its how the world works.

so are you telling me i got ripped off when i got my ps2 for 299$ when i could have waited for it to be like 50 bucks. WOW what i suprise i never would've expected sony to lower their prices on anything, i hope they track down everyone who payed less then at launch and make them pay the diff. Buddy you are a true emo idiot, when you commit to bying a system at launch u have to keep in mind of only three things : Bugs, Lack of games, And eventual price drop

LOL You will ALWAYS pay more to be an early adopter. ALL technology starts out more expensive and then goes through changes and price drops. Don't blame Sony for your ignorance (actual definition, not slang).

The 60 gig is the original king. Not only because it was the MAIN PS3, but also because it's the best PS3. The 80 lacks the EE chip and the 40 gig...well...we all know.:)

I think I'm proud to be a 60 gig owner since December.

One thing if you bought it when it first came out i take it as you paid for the ps3 + 1 game and controller maybe? after a mont or 2 the deal become 2 games 1 blueray 2 controlls even more than that for the same price you bought!

You've only just started to fill cheated why didnt you feel cheated after a month or two?

True, and better yet for me, I got it when the price went down.
