I dont know why everyone thinkgs FF 12 was the black sheep. Both 12 and X-2 were solid entry's into the franchise, and brought something newmetalisticpain
I wasn't too crazy for XII because of the battle system. If I'm going to be running around in real time and only controlling one character at a time, I would like to actually control them rather than just imputting commands and standing there for 5 seconds while they wait their turn. That's just me, though.

me too.....plus the main character was lame
don't even get me started on X-2. You could tell from the opening scene that the game was going to be ________ (insert whatever word comes to your mind)
to be honest, i don think any of the games has re-captured the magiv of VII..
8 and 9 were ok, and ten was pretty good, but i find the characters getting less and less lovable as the series goes on. Like in VII, you fell in LOVE with those characters man, 8 was a little less like that, 9 stepped it up again i think. Butt ten and twelve, i remember not caring if tidus and zidane liveed or died in the end. Whereas with number 7, i would have just about died too if cloud had have!

FF 12 was too foreign for US. It was widely popular and well received there and it triggered the crybaby syndrome on the sarcastic gamers over this side of ocean.
Actually, I think most ppl hated this game because of gambit system, at least I know a few people that simply refuse to play it because gambit makes the game feel 'cheap'.
personally i havent heard a thing about it yet :(
I would love too, but i judt havent got around to looking up on it yet.
Well, let's talk about it, then.
Just to spark some debate, is it possible that with Sakaguchi's departure, SquareEnix has lost the driving force behind their game design? FF12 was a half-formed idea of a game with a battle system slightly less enjoyable than the great pasttime of licking rattlesnakes. I want 13 to return to the form of 4,5,6,7,9, and 10, great games all. However, SquareEnix hasn't really shown that things will improve. To make matters worse, Sakaguchi doesn't want Mistwalker to make titles for PS3.
What do you guys think? Are my fears unfounded?bsbowman
Since leaving Square how many great games has Sakaguchi produced? None IMO Blue Dragon was a bust and I'm playing Lost Odyssey now and it's OK but nothing special. The main driving force behind FF7 and FFX were Producer/Director/Story writer Yoshinori Kitase, Story Writer Kazushige Nojima and Character Designer Tetsuya Nomura. These three are leading up the development of FFXIII so I have high expectation for this game.

Tetsuya Nomura is still at SE, rest assured and patiently wait for Versus 13
