Well, I didn't think I'd return to playing another MMORPG ever again, but I did enjoy Final Fantasy XI a lot. So...looks like I'll be going back to playing online again. :D If it's anything like Final Fantasy XI it's going to drain my time.
I reckon its a timed-exclusive - notice he said you'll only be able to play it on Playstation 3 "when it is released" - not "only be able to play it on Playstation 3"...
While I don't give a crap about FF, I had my jaw open and was wondering why the hell FFXIV was announced when FFXIII wasn't even finished! I seriously was so confused for a couple minutes until I realized it was online only.
I have to say that final fantasy xi broke my mmo virginity and i played it for a good 3 years before moving on to WoW for obvious reasons. Now hopefully learned that to make this next title enjoyable for the masses they need to lessen the amount of mindless grinding of xp you need to do so that the average player doesn't lose hope after level 20. Also end game must be alot more accesible instead of it being 3 years of camping the same three 24 hour spawn monsters where only a few linkshells/guilds had a monopoly on them.
i missed out on 11.. i was pretty excited when they announced agent then nothing i was like "are you ****ing kidding me".. then they said FINAL FANTASY 14 exclusive and i nearly jumped out of my chair and gave the air a high-five.. then it said online.. and "mother ****er" came out of my mouth..
now it looks great, i never played an MMO before.. but with the star wars MMO being presented, i think FF14 might be forgotten a little bit..
which 13 is an exclusive 13 or 13vs ? and why wasn't 13vs shown.. i just don't know how to feel about 14, i feel betrayed lol..
man, you haters need to kick the **** back! ffxi was awesome and xiv will be too. im getting it first day like i did with ffxi lol now, excuse me while i bury the remaining fragments of my social life lol
They could have said it was online first off, so half of us wouldn't have groaned right at the end...

Same here. It was an amazing and shocking announcement that I'm sure millions of PS3 owners will be all over, but I'm not much on MMOs. I really prefer single player games, and I got one and lost one all in the same 1 minute trailer. :( Its still awesome that we got it though!
lol at first i thoguht he made a mistake ( instead of saying versus 13) but then with the trailer it really was FF14.. im exited even tho its online and will buy it for sure :)
I jump up for joy until I seen online then I felt like jumping into a hole after that lol,well I guess its good for gamers that like those kind of game (sigh)....
Oh no. Another FF MMO? I lost part of my life to FFXI (although I quit early enough that I can still live my life), so I'm scared now. Is it free? I highly doubt it...
If it's free :lol: then I'll most certainly get it. If there is a monthly fee however then forget it. Not paying for something that will consume my life. At least if it's free I won't feel the need to get my money's worth so much. I can take breaks if I want to.
Did anyone consider this could possibly be something besides an MMO? As of now, my guess is it could be an online type game similar to White Knight Chronicles, where you join up with friends in lobbies and fight through baddies and such. Maybe even something similar to Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, except with a much more open gameworld without the silly tethers like the chalice. :P
I was like holy crap, my eyes were glue to the screen until i saw online, I play free MMo from time to time but never will a MMo will have the same impact as the regular rpg series, still if it's free i'm might buy it
