I posted an article a few days ago in my union stating that FF13 will be the first game to use all of the PS3's specs.Shacks210
Well then you posted some misinformation lol. No console has ever been pushed to its complete limit. Its all theoretical anyways. Also I'm sure there will be PS3 games in 3-4 years from now that will push the specs further than FF13. Although I'm not taking away from the fact that we will see some amazing things from 13.

First we wont know until it is out, not to mention Kaz Hira said by 2009 (Ithink or 2012) the PS3 will be pushed to 100%. Second if no system has been pushed to 100% then why did the devs for God of War II say they are putting it on the PS2 and not PS3 because "We know how far we can go with the PS2 and know it best and do not know much about the PS3."
EDIT: Here is said article...
FFXIII and Versus to Fully Utilize PS3 Specs
In an interview with Tetsuya Nomura, new details were released on Square Enix's upcoming titles Final Fantasy XIII and Versus XIII.
Noruma stated that with the help of the Blu-Ray and the HDD provided in every PS3, the quality jump from Final Fantasy XII to XIII should rival the jump seen in Final Fantasy VI to VII.
Also, Noruma went on to say that once again Final Fantasy XIII and Versus XIII will be PlayStation 3 exclusives. This meaning that even though the White Engine is now multiplatform, gamers will not see these two titles going anywhere but the Sony PS3. Why you might ask? Well according to Noruma, Square Enix is using the PS3 to its full specifications, meaning that in order to perform the same game on PC or Xbox 360 would require a full reworking of the code and to run on the Xbox 360 would require probably a highly chopped down version or multiple disc version of the game.
Anyways, all in all, if you are looking for a game that makes the most out of your PS3, plan on picking Final Fantasy XIII up sometime late 2008 or even 2009. Until then, stay tuned for more information.

As technology grows, new tools and methods become available. If we weren't in this new generation of consoles I can guarantee you there would be PS2 games on the horizon that completely dwarf God of War II. Its really not as simple as you might think. A developer would have to find the perfect balance between the Cell,RSX, available memory as well as BR capacity. Then it would depend on what strengths your allocating those sources to. Once again Ill say its all theoretical. You can easily see how far 64 bit games have come on the DS in comparison to the N64.
Also Kaz Hirai, not Hira, is merely PR. Hes not in there developing games, hes all about the business and that all. Same for the God of War guys, Its all PR.
lol. Posted before I saw your edits, but regardless of what Nomura says hes just trying to sell a game. And while the game will most likely push the PS3 further than what we have seen so far its still not utilizing the specs 100%.
Im not trying to be your enemy, just saying don't believe everything you here as its all just business.

All Imeant is that they were trying to hype God of War II. If you trully believe that is as far as the PS2 could be pushed than I dont know what to tell you. There were games with better animations, textures, physics, poly counts, lighting, larger scale....the list goes on. Its really tough to guage a peak limit. You should understand these people are just out to sell a product that they worked hard on. Of course theyre gonna talk it up. As for Kaz he has made many false statements in the past. Its all about the money man. People are gonna say whatever they can to hype a product.

Absolutely. Halo 3 wouldve sold just fine, but they felt the need to spend $10 million on an advertising campaign anyways. Its business dude. MGS is my favorite game series, but Kojima always talks big and is sometimes over ambitious. FF has always been a favorite of mine as well, but I can see through the hype. Epic said Gears pushed 360 to its limit. I highly doubt it.

OK. This is going back and forth with no resolution. I'm sure FF13 will be amazing, and most likely one of the most technically proficient games on PS3. I don't believe for minute it will push the PS3 to its max. All I can really say is here in a few years you will be seeing games that push it further, unless for some wack ass reason technology fails to progress. Not trying to bash your views dude. This is just the way it always has been and I don't see it stopping now.
Keep in mind the same was said about FF10 and MGS2 at one time. You see how that turned out.

Yes this is going back and forth because you are maikng no sence. You did not answer my last question and read all the articles we all posted, it is the PS3 specs that will be fully used nothing else, so I do not know why you bare telling me the PS3 will not be pushed to the max when no one is saying it will be.
OK. So what do you mean by specs then? If you mean what PS3 has to offer that would mean use of the Blu Ray, hdd, Cell, RSX, and the Six Axis motion sensing. If thats the case then many games are already"utilizing all the PS3 specs".
Come on man. Eleborate on your definition of specs and then maybe I can understand what it is your getting at.

isnt using the specs to the fullest and pushing the systsem to the max basically the same thing? :S no1 is doubting that the game will be amazing but come on man this is technology we're talking about! Im sure that as the PS3's life span progresses ppl will find more and more ways to eek performance out of the machine. It happened with PS1, PS2 and most of every system that lasted 5 years + so there's no reason for that to change now...

Thank you!I'm surprised it took this long for someone else to comment. Pushing specs to the max=pushing PS3 to the max, and considering that no game has ever pushed a console to its peak theoretical limit, I doubt FF13 will be the first. Especially this early in the systems life span.

Seeing no one here knows for sure if the full use of specs is the same as full power of the PS3 then it hold no water and lets stick with facts and not assumptions.

You are officialy stupid, cry to the mods I don't care now. lol
They said it was going to push the ps3's specs to the limits, that makes it a fact. What is being assumed, by you is that specs and power is the same thing.
Now either way, why would they make it up? NOw don't say "to push sales" because we both know the conversation before. You they spent 10 million on Halo 3, yet made nothing up and you are going to say they are making things up to sell Final Fantasy 13.
No need to get childish son. I have been working in simulation programing for years and im also working on a bachelors in Animation and game design, as well as computer science. I have a pretty good understanding of what system specs mean. This is not the first time a high profile dev has said they are pushing system specs to the max and lied *cough* FF10, MGS2, Gears * cough*
Please if your going to be ignorant, don't go out of your way to show it. Itagaki is a very high profile developer and responsible for one of the greatest action games of all time. He also said the 360 is the most powerful hardware on the market. Does that mean you should believe him?
Grow up man. If you go through life believing everything you hear it will lead to one sad existence.
Yes that was childish of me and I am sorry, but at least I have no started to lie. YOu have been studying this and know what specs are, yet needed me to "eleborate" on what they ment by pushing the limits of the specs to the fullest? YOu are giving me a run around and no one braggs about what they do this late unless it is false. I am done with this conversation with you and will not even look at this topic again. I answered the mans question, with facts and got sucked into a useless debate. Have a good night.
You could say that MGS2 and FFX pushed the PS2 to it's limit "at that time" As the dev kits changed, it was possible to do more with the system but as far as FFX goes (even though I thought the game sucked, I hated the main characters and their English voices), nothing else from that period could touch it technically. I didn't think MGS2 was so amazing though. FFXIII will either be the best first gen game or by the time it comes out it will be second gen and the limits will already be getting pushed further. Noone knows until the game is out and it can be judged by other games on the system from the same time frame.
It's the same thing with every system. VF2 was the most amazing 32-BIT game ever released at the time but then 2 years later Dead or Alive (yes the real version, not that inferior crap that was on the PS1) blew it away graphically. Hell I (sadly) would still rather play Saturn VF2 over the PS2 "port" anyday... Guess I have to hope for a PS3 "Virtua Fighter Sega Ages" game one day.

WOW! I asked you to elaborate on your definition because you made absolutely no sense whatsoever. Also I'm not bragging about what I do and I like to keep my personal life off the message boards, but I was letting you know that I have an understanding of what I'm talking about here.
You aswered the mans question, not with facts, but with here say. Not once have you made an attemt to debate any of my points with any reason or sense.
You turned a discussion into an argument, then once you realized you lost the argument you resorted to childish insults. I guess you also just believe everything you here so guess what!
The sky is purple, the Wii is the most powerful console ever, Street Fighter was the best movie ever made, and everyday shooter pwns the hell out of MGS4. Now go report this earth shattering info to your minions Sir CrapMonger!

And I can agree with all of that. FF10 still looks impressive to me. Im more for artistic style than the technical side myself.
lol, full specs is basically just a fancy way of saying that they're gonna use as much space as bluray will hold, and that its being developed to take advantage of the PS3's hardware. now the day a PS3 game will use the full power of the machine is years away imo.americahellyeah
If thats what the provided link would have stated I would have stopped right there. Full specs can mean a number of different aspects. Even if thats what Nomura meant (I doubt it) MGS4 will be using a 50 gig Blu Ray and be out sooner, so that would throw his "first to utilize" statement out the window.
Im not here to bash anyone. I just dont want the kid to believe everything he hears.

which kid? if you're talking about shacks210 then well idk, jus please don't report him or anything, he's a good guy, just kinda blunt sometimes.
full specs basically means they are going to utilize all the components of the PS3, not like EA which i don't think ever utilizes the RSX the way it was meant to be, and then they end up bottlenecking the information because of the shared ram whcih leads to poor framerates. i think thats right.
Yeah I was referring to Shacks, not you. I lurk these boards a lot and you seem like respectable guy. and btw I wont report him. I really don't see the point in online snitching.treelog187
thanks, you're a respectable poster as well from what i've seen.
he's the leader of teh ESLS (eat sleep live sony union) and he's pretty close to being banned from what i've heard.
WEl... obv wht ther saying is tht the game will use everything tht the ps3 has to offer... it doesnt really mention anythin about how much potential it will use... how ever they do say tht the game would be alot better compered to ff12... but the game could bereally length or really high quality because ther is a mention tht the game would be really chopped down on the 360...
its hard to get new information on ff13 because square likes 2 keep things a secret until it gets close to release... it keeps the buyer guessing...
n wht is wit the doubled posting isnt tht not allowed... i mean you can answer dif questions on a single post...

they would have to rebuild the white engine from scratch basically to get it on the 360, because the whole game has been completely exclusiviley built to work on the PS3.
and answering 2 posts with 2 posts instead of one is usually fine, as long as its not just like a 1 word post or somethign.
...so any news on ff13 apart from...thatSonir77
lol....well i heard that they r gonna pack in discs with some game magazine in japan that has extended trailers of FF 13 as well as versus...its cool tho cuz itll be on utube pretty soon :) ive rly been waiting to c some new footage from this game (and i wudnt mind some gameplay elements (battle system plz) shown as well but i highly doubt it.
